Ogham Readings on Sundays
Aug. 19th, 2023 10:48 pm
Hi Everyone,
I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills. I take reading requests until 8pm Central Time (Chicago Illinois USA) on Sunday night. Though I am flattered that people want readings after the deadline, I decline reading requests made after 8pm Central Time on Sunday night without exception.
Please note I will be taking off the week of September 10, 2023. Readings will resume as usual September 17, 2023.
For a more in depth look into how I read and interpret the Ogham's symbols, please visit my website druidogham.wordpress.com.
I am currently trying to minimize my use of PayPal. If you'd like to make a donation, I would be grateful if you did it here:

Your prayers of blessing to the deity/deities of your choice are welcome whether or not you can donate.

Date: 2023-08-20 10:25 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you drew Mór or Sea Change well-dignified. Regardless of what the physical weather is doing at the moment, the astral weather around you is fine. Take advantage of smooth sailing to gather and organize your thoughts, make long-range plans, and to clarify and distill past experiences so they become useful and informative.
For the Situation, you drew Fearn or Bridge well-dignified. Knowing how to work with people you disagree with and to keep a lid on your own opinions is not just important when it comes to everyday dealings, but also healing when you must look at past relationships when perhaps you did not get along as well. The Ogham commend you for your perspective and for putting your ego aside when you must do the dirty work of understanding and communicating with others. Your willingness to bridge chasms comes back to you as good karma as you too will now have a higher chance of being given a voice by someone with whom you do not see eye to eye.
For the Outcome, you drew Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. This card is an odd one when paired with Mór well-dignified as they are both Forfedha or the Ogham equivalent of trumps in the Tarot and have similar indications about the general astral weather. Perhaps there is a bit of trouble in paradise. I believe it means that you'll have a decision to face that you might not feel up to making, an irritating episode, or some general unhappiness this week that is part bum luck and part your own doing. The advice here is to change what little you can and not worry about the rest.

Re: Princess Cutekitten
Date: 2023-08-20 10:34 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you drew Coll or Wisdom well-dignified. You are able to enjoy some of the fruits of having been around the block a few times; consider yourself lucky if you don't have to learn some lessons twice. If you're very lucky, this card means you'll have attention or kudos from an intelligent person you admire.
For the Situation, you drew Ailm or Transcendence ill-dignified. There are a couple of possibilities with this card: either you'll be tempted to do some false transcendence where you tell everyone, including yourself that THIS IS FINE despite it not being fine or you'll just be kind of down. Ailm in this dignity can also be talking about others being trolls. Never feed the trolls!
For the Outcome, you drew Onn or Community well-dignified. The Ogham suggest getting out and about this week because your local community has much to offer. Even if you are doing routine shopping or other mundane errands, this is a good week to run them the old fashioned way, offline and with actual human beings.

Date: 2023-08-20 11:34 pm (UTC)When the Tarot predicts danger, it usually means something trivial like stepping wrong or (lightly) bumping your head. It has its ways of letting you know when it means business. When I had a car with a target painted on the bumper, I quickly learned to take seriously the Chariot, reversed. Does the Ogham work the same way?

Date: 2023-08-20 11:39 am (UTC)To ask: What is it that I need to know this week, according to the Ogham?
I am contemplating selling item S, what does the Ogham make of this?

Date: 2023-08-20 10:45 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you drew Coll or Wisdom ill-dignified. This week it is going to be tempting to want something you have not done sufficient work to earn -- this could be knowledge but it could also be some other net good, like a connection to someone important or money. Eschew unearned wealth of all sorts this week and don't let it lead you down the garden path. Coll in this dignity also can frequently mean you'll have to suffer a fool or someone who is acting the fool.
For the Situation, you drew Nuin or Communication ill-dignified. This week may be not so great for getting your points across. Be prepared to lay low and invoke a great deal of patience. Nuin can often be talking about computer, tech, or travel problems, so back up anything super-important and make sure you have alternatives if a travel route becomes untenable. Because this is in Situation, it can easily apply to someone you love.
For the Outcome, you drew Koad or Confluence well-dignified. Overall, if you take a snapshot of your overall life right now, it is harmonious. This is a good week to scrutinize what you've done right. What brought you the prosperity you currently enjoy? What kind of happiness is worth more than what money can ever buy? Do you have it?
For selling item S, the Ogham provide Tinne or Defense well-dignified. They approve. Selling the item is to your power and strength. Don't be afraid. You will do fine if you sell it.

Date: 2023-08-20 10:58 pm (UTC)The Ogham say it's going to last a while and that rain may be four weeks or more in the making. They provide Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified.
I find that praying to Hera (not necessarily for rain, just generally), and the release of my rendition of the Orphic Hymn to Hera has curiously coincided with the weather in my little area of Illinois being unusually pleasant. Cool in the summer, not too cold in the summer, and the perfect amount of rainfall for the last couple of years. Meanwhile, tornadoes devastate to the West and horrendous heat and drought scorches to the South. Just putting that out there.

Date: 2023-08-20 02:14 pm (UTC)1. I’ve been told my heart is one of my strongest assets, but I admit that I’ve been letting resentments get a hold on me and reduce my love of life, etc. What does your Ogham recommend I do to keep my heart strong?
2. What Ogham letter should I study next?
3. I’ve been living in a specific area in my country for some time now. I’m leaving for another town, but am open to returning. Does your Ogham think returning to the area I’m thinking of at a later point in time is wise/a good idea or no?

Date: 2023-08-20 11:18 pm (UTC)My Ogham give you Ailm or Transcendence well-dignified to answer your question about your heart. They agree with you, that your big heart is your strongest asset. That said, you need to look out for Ailm or Transcendence in imbalance: either too much transcendence or too little. Too much and you will find that you are not admitting the extent of your heartbreak and that things may not be as secure as you are saying they are. Too little and you have what you describe as "love of life" being reduced: depression, irritation, being bogged down by trifles. Build on the good, of course, but don't ignore what is going wrong in your life or try to paper over it with "I'm OK". Be brutally honest about what is not OK and then figure out ways around or through it.
My Ogham think you should study Koad or Confluence next. This page may be of use in your studies: https://druidogham.wordpress.com/the-forfedha/koad/
For your return to the area, my Ogham like it. They provide Gort or Perseverance well-dignified, which tells me that the spot you have chosen may be a solid choice for the long haul.

Date: 2023-08-20 11:56 pm (UTC)The Ogham predict a triumphant week -- all three cards are well-dignified. That said, this week may very well have its challenges. The key factor is that you are well-placed to overcome them with style and grace.
For the You position, you drew Fearn or Bridge. Your ability to find the best part of a person or situation and work with it instead of dismissing the person or situation because it is frustrating comes in handy this week. Good fortune follows those who make the best out of what (and whom) they are given.
For the Situation, you drew Muin or Harvest. Your expectations are not out of line. You earn your wealth and wellness this week. It is a good week to look at the positives you have sown in your life and where they began.
For the Outcome, you drew Beith or Intention. You have an opportunity this week to follow what is truly important to you during this incarnation. Good habits are especially easy to get started this week, so if you have any resolutions, this is the week to institute them.

Date: 2023-08-20 09:57 pm (UTC)For almost as long as I've been able to read, I've wanted to write stories. Occasionally, I've managed to fulfil this ambition. The one or two short stories I managed to finish writing were immensely satisfying to write, and from the feedback I received, quite promising - a handful of odd synchronicities contributed to my sense that this was a pursuit aligned with my Higher Self.
Since my brother's death in 2011, I have been able to write absolutely nothing in the way of fiction. I had one novel idea, which I repeatedly attempted to simply write out with no planning, which never got beyond a page or two. I scrapped that, then another idea began to emerge with far more promise - I decided to plan it out reasonably well in advance. It has a very compelling setting, a mythically-inspired framework, and a cinematic aesthetic.
However, the results have been kind of like that bit in the Simpsons where Bart tries to imagine the Itchy & Scratchy film he's been banned from seeing, and the two characters just stare at him and shrug. The tap is parched - occasionally a little sputter emerges, and I get hopeful that maybe we're on a roll, but nope - it goes back to zero.
I was wondering if your Ogham might have some advice on what is blocking my creative process when it comes to fiction, and how I can push beyond it.
Thanks!
Luke

Date: 2023-08-21 01:06 am (UTC)Sibling number 3
Date: 2023-08-20 10:29 pm (UTC)I come from a large family. I’m child number 2 and the eldest daughter.
Can the Ogham give me any insight about why sibling number 3 isn’t speaking to me and if there is anything I can do about it? I’d prefer harmony with my siblings, but not at the expense of my integrity…..

Re: Sibling number 3
Date: 2023-08-21 01:24 am (UTC)My Ogham give you one card for why she is not talking to you and two as advice for how to proceed.
For the "What gives with Sibling No. 3?" You got Ioho or Grace ill-dignified. She lacks grace. She is holding on to a grudge, and the origin of that grudge could be real and it could be imaginary. She may even be in psychological denial as to the reasons why she isn't talking to you at the moment. There is no way you can approach her, so if I were you, I wouldn't. Respond to her lack of grace by being the epitome of the grace she does not possess. Let her go do her own thing. Maybe she doesn't get over her grudge in this incarnation and saves it up as karma for future incarnations. Wish her the best, forgive her, and move on while being prepared never to speak to her again.
For Advice card No. 1, they give you Onn or Community well-dignified. You may be in the process of losing a sister -- at any rate, she is treating you worse than a stranger -- but your people are right in front of your eyes in your community, wanting to connect with you on a deeper level.
For Advice card No. 2, they give you Coll or Wisdom well-dignified. This whole thing with your sister is part of your learning tasks in this incarnation, and so far, the Ogham say you've done as well as anyone can do when it comes to treating people fairly and kindly. There is much more to learn and it is a slow process. Like the drip-drip of a stalagmite becomes a river that eventually carves the Grand Canyon, the process is glacial. You must persevere.
Stuck
Date: 2023-08-20 10:35 pm (UTC)I feel completely stuck and trapped. What do the Ogham think I could do about it?
I also saw the "Straif" rune as a sticker on someone's rear car window the other day, which was odd. Not sure what to make of that, or if it was related to anything.
Thanks.
Re: Stuck
Date: 2023-08-21 01:57 am (UTC)My Ogham give you three cards of advice: interestingly, all were well-dignified, which tells me they think you'll get yourself unstuck.
For the You or most immediate card, they provide Beith or Intention/Beginnings. The time to start getting unstuck is now, as you have realized. Most people never get as far as admitting that something has got to change. Beith is the ultimate card of starting with yourself. Take what you hate about your life, negative traits of other people, and bad habits and be the change you want to see in the world. I hate driving, so though I cannot quit driving, I can lessen and limit the amount of time I spend doing it. It's not a complete cessation but it is a step in the right direction. I really hate gentrification, so I resolve never to pour money into unnecessary home additions/acquisitions and to disdain money I did not earn; instead I envision myself living in small spaces for the rest of my life. I hate it when people want something for nothing, so I never play the lottery and I will never invest in the stock market even if I end up having the money to do it.
For the Situation, you drew Mór or Sea Change. The weird sighting of that rune/Ogham is calling you to meditate on it. I go into more about Straif here: https://druidogham.wordpress.com/the-fews-water/straif/ Effectively, Straif is learning to integrate your own shadow. Let's say circumstances were different and you had to fight your way out of this. Where does that take you? What are you capable of? You are the captain of the ship. What are all the potential outcomes of leaving, including poverty and destitution? What is the best case scenario? What does working it out look like?
For the Outcome, you drew Ngetal or Hygiene. Moderation is a viable path. Splitting it down the middle is OK; everyone will adapt. There is a possibility of a clean break, but there is also an equal possibility of taking a different perspective and healing from within. Learning to partition yourself and your thoughts here is important: you don't ever need to speak everything on your mind and you don't owe people your truth all the time. It is fine to curate what you say for the party you are speaking to; no, it does not make you a sociopath. Politeness isn't just for strangers.
September...
Date: 2023-08-21 12:25 am (UTC)I would like to requests a reading for September, 2023.
Normally I would wait for the last week of August, but if I forget to ask next week, you'll be on vacation the following week, so I'm sliding the request in under the wire this week (it's already after 8 here on the East coast, but not there!).
Thanks much,
Jan
Re: September...
Date: 2023-08-21 02:04 am (UTC)You drew three cards for September.
For the You position, you drew Saille or Sensitivity well-dignified. You "know when to hold them and know when to fold them" as the old song goes. You are gifted with the propensity to say and do the right things at the right times. It's a good month to get rid of physical detritus and accumulated possessions you're no longer putting to good use.
For the Situation, you drew Ur or Intimacy ill-dignified. Despite your sensitivity, close relationships may be turbulent. Irritability, frustration, and fatigue may affect you or your loved one/ones. Another possibility is the temptation to share too much information: can it and you'll thank me later.
For the Outcome, you drew Phagos or Teaching ill-dignified. This modern world is plagued with people who have a compulsive need to feel they are experts. They are insecure and the only way they can placate their egos is to be the Big Man or the Big Woman, and it is super gross when they are in psychological denial because they turn into mini-monsters when they don't feel like they're the top dog. Don't be that guy or that gal. You may have to suffer one of these types, so do your best not to imitate them!

Date: 2023-08-21 02:12 am (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you and the fam drew Gort or Perseverance ill-dignified. Patience is wearing thin. Money may be tight -- I often draw this card when I spend past my budget or I am hit with an annoying setback expense. Another possibility of imbalance is being too patient: know your own limits and what constitutes deal-breaker behavior. It is different for everyone. What kind of fools are you willing to suffer?
For the Situation, you drew Huath or Obstacles well-dignified. Any appearance of Huath can imply physical danger, so be on your guard this week. Other than that, it talks about proper application of diligent Martial force. Maybe the family is doing something healthy, like getting outside, cleaning, doing sports/martial arts, or exercising. If there is drama, it is dealt with efficiently and brusquely.
For the Outcome, you drew Ngetal or Hygiene ill-dignified. Colds, flus, and the like are always lurking and threatening -- keep up with supplements and if in doubt, stay home. This is a good week to clean house and do health-related activities such as Epsom salt baths, getting sunlight, and eating well.

Date: 2023-08-21 11:18 pm (UTC)Feedback on last week: We all had old health problems come back and bug us that week. So, accurate.
As for this week, a doctor squeezed in the toddler tomorrow, so wish us luck. (This is a doctor we saw a while ago who pushed vaccines a little, so let's hope we can deal efficiently with that. While still getting help for the issues we are actually concerned about.) Then, same toddler has her annual peanut challenge (to see if she's overcome her peanut allergy) on Thursday. So...wish us luck.
