Ogham Readings on Mondays
Oct. 3rd, 2021 10:32 pmSubmit your question or request for a general "what's up this week" reading and I will be happy to oblige! I read between the time I post on Sunday night with a deadline of 8pm Monday night.

I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills -- but if you want to donate for it, I'll happily buy myself a book, a snack, or a cup of tea while on the town. Please only donate if you can absolutely afford it. I've been there. Your prayers for my continued success are welcome whether you donate or not!

Date: 2021-10-05 12:45 am (UTC)My Ogham surprised me with this one. They say No, you shouldn't go the podcast route. They provide Koad or Grove ill-dignified. I take this to mean there is an unfinished project that you must complete and/or more meditation to be done on the podcast's intention before you go ahead. Definitely ask again in a few weeks.

Date: 2021-10-05 12:56 am (UTC)This week you drew three cards. All were well-dignified. This indicates you'll have a pretty good week according to my Ogham.
For the You or most immediate position, you drew Ailm or Transcendence. Ailm means you'll be presented with a challenge and you will take the high road. You will maintain a crucial sense of humor and you'll be able to overcome an obstacle because of it.
For the middle or Situation position, you drew Straif or Strife well-dignified. You or someone close to you will be resilient in the face of hardship. Resilience is at least 90% attitude. For instance, there are extreme doomsday preppers with luxurious underground bunkers stocked with floor to ceiling MREs and a ancient dragon's treasure-worth of gold bricks who aren't at all resilient because their doomstead bunkers are actually just another form of compulsive hoarding. They are actually quite fragile psychologically. You'll have a more realistic, pragmatic outlook.
For the outcome you drew Uilleand or Generosity. For your acts of generosity, both this week and the ones you've put out there in the past, you will receive a sevenfold reward. Part of this reward will come this week. Keep in mind the rewards of generosity are not in any sense limited to money or physical possessions.

Date: 2021-10-05 01:02 am (UTC)This week you drew three cards.
For the You card, you drew Eadha or Limits ill-dignified. This means you'll have trouble with your own limits this week and you may be frustrated by having too many of them (money and the perception of wealth is usually a big limiter) or you won't limit yourself enough in some respect.
For the middle or Situation position, you drew Saille or Sensitivity well-dignified. Saille or Willow is a card I have attributed to Aphrodite. If this is balanced, it is a strong indication that you'll have a harmonious home life this week and you'll have at least a little time for doing pleasant activities.
For the Outcome or Karma, you drew Ur or Intimacy ill-dignified. It will be tempting this week to spill a secret. The opposite possibility of imbalance is that you'll clam up when your voice is most needed. By drawing this card, there's a good chance of avoiding an imbalance/error when the time comes, especially since Saille is well-dignified (balanced) and your senses will be tuned just right where human relationships are concerned.

Date: 2021-10-05 01:21 am (UTC)For the You position, they give Straif or Strife. This is my Ogham saying you are resilient and you will come through fine on the other side of this. The best thing you can do is to prepare and share -- meaning, be generous to your neighbors and help them if they are in need because their preparations weren't enough. The more people work together and bond through this, the weaker the Dim Sum Dan and his flunkeys will become both now and in the future.
For the Situation position, they give you Ailm or Transcendence. This is their way of assuring you that it is going to be fine. Take the high road, resist the temptation to throw the oppressor's hate back at him. It's fine to hate the people doing this: they're detestable. They richly deserve what I believe is coming their way. Be accepting of the hatred within you but refuse to act on it. Leave vengeance to the gods. Meanwhile, focus your love and strength on yourself and the people who are on our side... we need it!
For the Outcome, they give Beith or Beginnings. You are going to be given the opportunity to build works of good out of the ashes when the mayhem inevitably collapses. As much as Melbourne's leaders SUCK and as bad as it is getting right now, unfortunately the Ogham are saying this has been in the cards since Australia's founding as a prison colony or possibly before that time. As hard as it is going to be, they are saying that you should look at this whole mess as an opportunity to build something new when the rubble stops bouncing.

Date: 2021-10-05 01:37 am (UTC)I hope I can offer you some insights then if not comfort. I have been there. My Ogham give you three cards. They agree with your "lost" sentiment. All three cards were ill-dignified/out of balance.
For the first card, they provide Straif or Strife. The problem right now is either you feel completely unprepared to deal with what life is throwing at you and/or you feel you made the wrong preparations by mistake. Now you have no choice but to improvise and work with what you've got. This is a great time to meditate (discursive meditation as I talk about here) about the Stoics, especially Epictetus who was literally a slave and had some fairly horrible things happen to him. You cannot control what happens to you most of the time but you can control the way you react.
For the middle Situation card, they provide Saille or Sensitivity. This means that you are suddenly presented with choices of what to do with the rest of your life and you had better choose carefully. So many of us spend entire lifetimes doing what we don't love and essentially or literally marrying it/them. Now is the time to be brutally honest with yourself and chop away not only what you don't love, but what you don't like because spending time doing stuff you can just kind of tolerate adds up to a sucky life. For instance, I don't really like dogs all that much. Dogs are often cute, smart, and sweet, but my feelings towards them are lukewarm at best. So that's why I'll most likely never have a dog in this incarnation. Cats, on the other hand...
For the Outcome, you drew Uilleand or Generosity. Since it too was ill-dignified, you'll have to address your own perception of wealth. There are people who live in shacks made of garbage who are technically the wealthiest of all because they are happy and they have their loved ones around them. Gratitude is a language of its own that our civilization has largely forgotten. Nobody had ingrate syndrome worse than me in my younger years. Keep in mind that every thought and act of genuine gratitude returns to you (at least) seven times and likely in seven different forms. So be generous, not just with money, but take the lessons of Saille and funnel your generosity towards what you love the most about this world.

Date: 2021-10-05 01:49 am (UTC)For this week, you drew three cards.
For the first card, you drew Ur or Intimacy well-dignified. Ur is symbolized by the Gorse in the European-Celtic Ogham. In my prairie Ogham, it is symbolized by the Goldenrod. If you have a best friend, mate, or lover, you'll have harmonious relations this week. If you're more of a loner, you will do a good job of keeping secrets. People often underestimate the power of not telling others what they don't need to know. The ultimate secrets are between you and God (and your Holy Guardian Angel and protective spirits) so there really isn't a need to blah-blah about those secrets. I don't mean to freak anyone out here but no human is ever alone. We're all surrounded by incorporeal beings all the time. It's a matter of sensitivity and ability if you're able to talk to them or not.
For the middle position, you drew Gort or Perseverance well-dignified. Gort is symbolized by Ivy. You most likely won't have significant financial trouble this week. You'll have a slow and steady approach towards your projects and personal goals.
For the Outcome, you drew Nuin or Communication ill-dignified. Nuin in my prairie Ogham is symbolized by the quirky, non-US native Gingko Biloba tree. The imbalance of Nuin is the trouble with being a nerd. Every one of us has an introverted streak and a perverse FOMO or Fear of Missing Out when that streak gets too dominant. My Ogham are saying that you'll have conflicted desires where the world of strangers is concerned: maybe you'd like to be well-known or at least recognized but don't want the hassle that often accompanies fame. The best remedy for this is meditation not only into your own drives, but also contemplating of every potential outcome, good to bad, if you pursue the directions that seem appealing.

Date: 2021-10-05 04:00 am (UTC)This week you drew three cards.
For the You position, you got Luis or Protection ill-dignified. What this means is you are either vulnerable -- whether it is physical, mental, or otherwise is not known by me. It could also mean you are over-protecting in a way that ironically makes you vulnerable. A good example is the parent who thinks their child is protected because they live in a "safe" suburb, yet their child is mentally and physically unwell because he doesn't play outside and has never been taught any practical skills.
For the Situation, which may apply to you or could also affect someone close to you, you drew Uilleand or Generosity well-dignified. You will have an insight into the flow of wealth -- when you give in a balanced way, you will receive in a balanced way. Wealth is an ecosystem. Of course wealth is more than currency or assets. Wealth can be in the form of wisdom, skills, and knacks. Generosity from the heart sublimates to the power of seven. What you give, you will receive magnified by seven (at least).
For the Outcome, you drew Ioho ill-dignified. Ioho means not letting go and not resting if it is not in balance. You might be clinging to something or someone who isn't meant for you, or it could be a simpler matter of not being able to have enough off time or not getting enough sleep. Sometimes it can be the opposite imbalance of too much rest taking place, meaning you are forced to stop or forced to let go, or perhaps you let go without enough fight.
Let’s go for a general reading this week
Date: 2021-10-04 03:17 pm (UTC)I’d like a general Ogham reading for this week.

Re: Let’s go for a general reading this week
Date: 2021-10-05 05:04 am (UTC)This week looks to be a bit of a doozy. All three cards were ill-dignified.
For the first card, you got Duir (Oak) or Gifts. There really isn't a bad side to Duir. If it is ill-dignified, it usually means you will be the one doing the giving. At the worst, you will be given a gift or called to recognize your own privilege, and the best strategy will be noblesse oblige or paying it forward.
For the Middle or Situation, you drew Ailm or Transcendence. Because it is ill-dignified, you are going to feel a heavy burden this week. It might be tempting to lash out. Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with hating someone or something. It's perfectly natural and healthy. It's what you do with those thoughts that counts. Admit the hatred, analyze it, meditate on it, and figure out ways to turn the anger energy into a thrust block.
For the final or Karma card, you got Nuin or Communication. Ill-dignified, this indicates less publicity than you want or on the opposite end of imbalance, wanting to rest and withdraw and not being able to do so.
Herbalism Course?
Date: 2021-10-04 05:00 pm (UTC)Would it be a good use of my time and money to take Rosemary Gladstar’s beginner herbalism course?
Thanks!
Re: Herbalism Course?
Date: 2021-10-05 05:15 am (UTC)I was surprised that my Ogham said No, it isn't the best use of your time and money, at least not for this week. They give Tinne, or Defense ill-dignified. I think what this means is that it could be doomed by an unknown factor, like not being able to complete the course or some other snafu.

Date: 2021-10-04 05:09 pm (UTC)In light of this, I wonder if the reason the Norse gods were going to be faster was just because a Heathen version of the LBRP existed that I could just pick up and use. No need to plug in names with the polytheist version, something I would've taken my sweet time with.
At this point, I'm still doing the banishing ritual with the Norse names, but focusing my religious devotion to the Greeks. My question for this week is, where do I go from here?
And thank you for the previous readings. They were very helpful, if in an unexpected way. :)
no subject
Date: 2021-10-05 05:28 am (UTC)Glad I could help! My Ogham say that you should try the LBRP* with the Druid gods. I was like "Huh?" That's what they said. For the Norse gods, they said No, giving Onn as an answer ill-dignified. Onn means Community, so I take this to mean that though the Norse gods still want you to propitiate to them and pray to them from time to time, they aren't the right fit for your LRBP. So upon getting this answer, I was like "OK, how about the Greek gods?" Again they said No. They provided Phagos or Teaching ill-dignified, which tells me they are trying to give you the very best strategy and putting the Greek gods into the LBRP isn't it. Once again, you should probably propitiate and pray to the Greek gods now and then. Finally, I asked, "So how about the Druid gods?" To this they answered Muin or Harvest well-dignified. Didn't you get Muin in a previous week?
I myself do the daily Sphere of Protection with the Druid pantheon, but I also regularly pray to the Greek gods (plus I have written a lot of music for the Orphic Hymns which has deepened my relationship with them. I have an altar to Demeter and another for Lady Bast in my house and I'm planning shrines to Elen (Druid goddess) and Artemis outside next year. So basically I say go for it, worship as many of them as you want. I've even prayed to Jesus a few times since becoming a Druid about five years ago and I believe he has answered. I believe he's the one who gave me that quote about demonic possession: "You've got to love the boy more than you hate the demon possessing him." One thing I'm quite confident of is I wasn't smart enough to come up with that quote myself.
*Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, a daily magical exercise that takes about 5 - 10 minutes and has the function of clearing the aura of bad influences and building a ring of protective force around the person who performs it.

Date: 2021-10-05 05:34 am (UTC)My Ogham say the threat is indeed real. They give Oír, Epiphany, and they give it well-dignified. This means you'll have the power and the intelligence to go around it.
As for how to deal with it, they give you three cards.
For the You card, they give Uilleand or Generosity ill-dignified. It's going to be tough but you'll want to give everyone involved the benefit of the doubt whenever possible. Try to come from a place of serenity and benevolence even if they're not doing the same.
For the Situation, they give Nuin or Communication well-dignified. This means it might be a good idea to reach out to strangers for help or otherwise let what is going on be publicly known.
For the Karma or Outcome, they give Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. This is a warning to be wary of false leaders and bad gurus. These gurus aren't necessarily from the material world. Not all advice on this situation will be good.

Date: 2021-10-05 05:41 am (UTC)They say this week is a mix.
For the You position, they give Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. That means this week is a bit of a s***storm no matter how you slice it. It will be important to contemplate how much of this week is your doing and how much is pure fate or karma.
For the Middle position or Situation, you drew Oír or Epiphany well-dignified. You will have a lightbulb go on that concerns getting around a bad situation or problems caused by fools. Often this will mean being able to put aside your ego or fears to overcome the angst and to build a thrust block from what is causing you trouble.
For the Outcome, you drew Gort or Perseverance ill-dignified. This week you will be stretched a bit thin, either in time or money or both. The opposite imbalance (this one is rarer but it can happen) is that you'll be a smothering influence or boorish. This could be pointing to bossiness and telling you to keep that urge in check.

Date: 2021-10-05 05:55 am (UTC)For this week, you drew three cards.
For the You or most immediate position, you drew Fearn or Bridge well-dignified. This means that this week you'll give or receive good advice. Maybe you'll have particularly great service from an expert in the field or run into some useful knowledge. Maybe you will be the provider of said knowledge. Either way, the learning transaction will bring prosperity and good karma.
For the Situation, you got Quert or Delight ill-dignified. This means one of two imbalances. Either you'll be overworked and you'll not feel very appreciative of the small things or on the opposite side of imbalance, you might be overly positive in an attempt to paper over your unhappiness. The solution is to be grateful for the little joys of life but to also be realistic about the things you don't like and the things you cannot change.
For the Outcome or Karma, you drew Muin or Harvest ill-dignified. On one end of potential imbalance, you could be suffering a thin harvest or trying to rush to harvest something that hasn't had the proper time to develop. You might be moving too fast or expecting too much. On the other end of imbalance, you might be suffering from the psychology of previous investment. You might be pouring your resources into something that isn't worth it anymore.

From: (Anonymous) - Date: 2021-10-07 05:15 pm (UTC) - Expandchoosing a path
Date: 2021-10-04 10:00 pm (UTC)So I have been looking into taking up some sort of religious and magical path, but I find myself flailing about trying to decide and just not knowing what to do.
I've never been an atheist, but always an agnostic, if you know what I mean. My reaction to most things religious and magical is "could be true, might not be, how can you know, unless you have some data?" I think the only religious convictions I've ever had are that one, reincarnation is real, and two, televangelists are evil. I've also collected enough "data" over the years - premonitions, knowing some fact I couldn't have known through rational channels, etc. - that I know there is SOMETHING more to the world.
That said, I don't know how to focus my interest. Should I pursue one of JMG's options - the CGD path, the regular GD path, the DMH path - or something else?
So that's a VERY long way of saying, can the Ogham give me some advice?
I'm not sure how to phrase the question, though. "What path is right for me" seems like it could be too vague. Maybe "what should I consider in choosing a path" or "how do I choose a parth?" might work better?
Any help you and the Ogham can give me will be much appreciated. I have tried praying, and while I get a sense that some of the gods may be listening, I still don't know how to structure my spiritual pursuits.
Also...I admit that in my usual "open-minded skeptic" way, I tested your readings by submitting a question about my week last Monday, to see if the reading proved accurate, and it did. So I'm back this week with a more important query. (I hope you won't take offense - I just have a strong "I'll believe it when I see it" streak in me - but if I do see it, I'm not afraid to believe it ;)
Re: choosing a path
Date: 2021-10-05 06:06 am (UTC)If you pursue the Celtic Golden Dawn, they give Ur or Intimacy well-dignified. This means that CGD would give you secret insights almost immediately but this particular Path will be especially lonely, human-wise. You'll have plenty of camaraderie with non-corporeal beings if you take this route.
For the regular Golden Dawn, they give you Coll or Wisdom well-dignified. This will be the slow and difficult road, but perhaps the most fulfilling.
For the Druid Magic Handbook, they recommend it strongly. They give Huath or Obstacles, which means that for whatever reason, DMH will help you clear an onerous karmic problem that needs to be dealt with. Huath is ruled by Ares. Ares is one of the Karma Rulers and by working with him and listening to what he has to say, you will avoid a ton of trouble in this life and future lifetimes.
I was atheist six years ago and I only leaned slightly towards agnostic. I get you. I don't take offense at all if you took a "see it to believe it" approach. I've had my mind blown in the past few years as I become more aware of my own spirit and its tiny niche in the crazy ecosystem that is this reality.

Re: Readings
Date: 2021-10-05 06:15 am (UTC)This week you drew three cards.
For the You card, you drew Eadha or Limits well-dignified. This week you'll be given many synchronicities about the power of limits. Apply the power of limits to your own life and you will bloom... of course limits would be a great theme for this week's meditations.
For the Situation, you drew Ruis or Regret ill-dignified. There are too possibilities here. One is an excess of pride that causes you not to regret enough. I often have this issue because I am a Leo with a natural ego that is the size of France. For the opposite imbalance, there is too much regret or beating yourself up/being overly critical of yourself. Remember that beating up on yourself is pointless if there is no resolve gained from the beating.
For the Outcome, you drew Straif or Strife ill-dignified. Straif also means Resilience and if it is ill-dignified, it means you aren't feeling like you can roll with life's punches or that it is difficult to bounce back from a setback. There is also the opposite possibility of imbalance and that is being over-prepared, also known as paranoid. The best insurance is keeping an open mind and having a lot of friends because you are a person of perceived value. No man is an island.

Date: 2021-10-05 06:21 am (UTC)No problem. I'm glad to be a victim of my own success! When I first started doing these readings, I never thought I'd be doing more than three or four a week.
For this week you drew three cards.
The first card in the You position is Beith or Beginnings/Birth well-dignified. This is a good week for starting something new. You have fresh energy and good motivation -- you've got a clear head and excellent sense of direction. You can use this to shape good decisions and outcomes for the future.
For the Middle or Situation, you got Ioho or Grace ill-dignified. A couple of things might be going on here: either there is not enough opportunity to rest or you could be holding on to something you need to let go of. There is also the possibility that you are rolling over too easily on a disagreement where you ought to stand your ground.
For the Outcome or Karma, you drew Huath or Obstacles well-dignified. You are going to have a moment of great strength. The rewards for overcoming this challenge will be massive. The keyword of this week is "tenacity".

From: (Anonymous) - Date: 2021-10-06 03:05 am (UTC) - ExpandCoffeeshop Reading No. 1: Kristina
Date: 2021-10-05 06:35 am (UTC)To Kristina, for this week, you drew three cards, all well-dignified, which points to a pretty good week.
For the first or most immediate position, the You card, you got Beith or Beginnings. Beith is symbolized by the Birch tree. You'll have a good, steady energy this week and a clear head. This is a good week to discern your own habits and to weed out the ones you don't like. I am reminded of one of my favorite sayings:
For the Situation position which can be affecting you or someone close to you or both, you drew Muin. Muin is symbolized by both grapevines and tomato plants and means Harvest. You'll see something come to fruition this week. Basically you will be shown the legacy of something positive you did or someone you were kind to.
For the final or Karma position, you drew Luis or Protection well-dignified. Luis is the card of your Holy Guardian Angel or higher self. This is the self that urges you to take the high road and who is always watching your back. If this card is showing up, you should be careful because it means there might be a reason for it to be active. In general, it means your higher self is reaching out. You can actually pray to your higher self for advice. Your higher self exists in a place beyond time and space and wants you to realize your potential. Druids believe that everyone eventually reaches that potential, but you can speed up the process a bit by being in touch with your higher self.
Coffeeshop Reading No. 2: Sarah
Date: 2021-10-05 06:44 am (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the first card in the most immediate or You position, you drew Coll or Wisdom ill-dignified. Coll is symbolized by the Burr Oak. When a card is ill-dignified in my readings, it means that there is either too much or too little of the influence described in the card. It is up to you to figure out which one it was this week: too much or too little. Too little Coll or Wisdom means you'll be tempted to stick your foot in your mouth and to say something that will cause trouble or just generally not help. It's great to get this card as a warning -- it has saved me on many occasions from saying something stupid! If you have too much Coll, it might be pointing to the danger of acting like a know-it-all when you don't know enough to come from a position of authority.
For the Middle or Situation card, you drew Ioho well-dignified. Ioho means Grace and is symbolized by the Yew bush/tree. If it is well-dignified, it means that you are able to let go of what was not meant for you this week. You'll act with dignity and maturity.
For the Final or Karma card, you drew Duir or Gifts ill-dignified. There is not a bad side to Duir. When it is ill-dignified, it means that you'll either be given a gift for which you'll be obligated to pay it forward by giving in some way to someone else or that you yourself will do the giving and favors will be owed to you. As I have mentioned in earlier readings, the giving of a gift in the true spirit of generosity sublimates that gift and brings it back to you by the power of seven (at least). Gifts are far more powerful than curses because of the way they reverberate upward through the planes.
Coffeeshop Reading No. 3: Yasmin
Date: 2021-10-05 06:55 am (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the first card, you drew Ur or Intimacy well-dignified. This week you'll have the opportunity to observe the power of keeping a secret. All too often, we are tempted to spill secrets as a form of social currency, also known as gossip. It isn't necessary or desirable to spill the beans, even if you are trying to be "honest" and tell someone you love about yourself. There are a lot of things that can and should be kept between you and God. In short, you don't need to explain yourself to others all the time. People love people who can keep a secret -- those who do are trustworthy, and that's a rare quality nowadays.
For the Middle or Situation position, you drew Koad or Grove. This card is symbolized by (you guessed it) a grove of trees and it means Confluence or a bunch of circumstances. This week, your Confluence is well-dignified, so it means that whatever is going on in your life is basically harmonious. It's a good week to study what makes for an ideal balance of work/rest/family/friends: how much time did you spend working? How much rest did you get? What was going on in the family?
For the Final or Karma position, you drew Ruis or Regret ill-dignified. As I mentioned in Sarah's reading, an ill-dignified card means there is the potential for either an excess of the influence of this card, Regret, or too little Regret. If you've got too much Regret, it means you are picking yourself apart or beating yourself too much over the past. I suggested at the café that if this is indeed the case, you should take the strategy of I Don't Do That Anymore to overcome it. If you have too little, that could be an issue of pride, meaning your ego is too inflated to realize you've done anything wrong. Either way, the best strategy is to bring yourself to a balance of neither too much nor too little Regret.
