Ogham Readings on Sundays

Hi Everyone,

 

I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills. I take reading requests until 8pm Central Time (Chicago Illinois USA) on Sunday night. Though I am flattered that people want readings after the deadline, I decline reading requests made after 8pm Central Time on Sunday night without exception.

 

Please note I will be taking off the week of September 10, 2023.  Readings will resume as usual September 17, 2023.

A strange message

Hi Kimberly,

My house, and to a lesser extent my life, is kind of falling apart.

I've been trying to generally patch the house up, but I just keep getting the strange thought of "It's not going to matter soon". I can't tell if this is ominous, but I don't detect any malicious intent behind it, just more of a "heads-up".

Can the Ogham give me any idea of where this is coming from and what it might mean?

Hi Anon,

My Ogham provide two cards for you on the matter.

For where it's coming from, they provide Onn or Community ill-dignified, and what this means is that your local non-corporeal ecosystem is unhealthy. This is a fancy way of saying the house is haunted. One or more of the spirits is a naysayer/negative type. Just as there are negative human beings who spoil a gathering simply by walking in, there are negative spirits who do the same. In the sense that some people absolutely live for the Apocalypse and lust after it, there are spirits who do the same. "It's not going to matter soon" is the exact sort of thing such a spirit says. It is highly likely it does not mean you any harm, but like attracts like and it probably wants you to be as generally miserable as it is (misery loves company). You should politely tell it that if it cannot provide positivity and encouragement, it is not welcome in your home. Once you make this announcement, see what happens. It could leave. It could also get pissed.

For what it might mean, the Ogham give you Muin or Harvest ill-dignified. You have to look at what you're investing in and make a hard decision whether or not to go on. For me, I have certain behaviors and habits with other people that make me and them very unhappy, and it is my constant task to not do that anymore. Falling into old patterns is easy and destructive, especially when we are feeling down. When you are going about your day, ask yourself "If I could do absolutely anything today, what would I do and where would I go?" Sometimes I have days where I am doing exactly what I want to do, but it certainly is not all the time. I do know for a fact I would never make a good beach bum; I'm too uptight for that. I'm too much of a hippie to be a lady who lunches. So my ideal day would usually involve walking in the forest preserve, teaching a couple music lessons, and then eating a nice meal. Determine what your ideal day would be and then think about some realistic things you could do so that you can more ideal days.

Thanks, that all makes a lot of sense. But ugh, another haunted house? I left my old one partially because of the oppressive energy there (I later discovered that the previous owners' son was on drugs and had killed himself, albeit not in the house, but the gloomy, angry, paranoid energy still persisted, and I didn't have the magical skill to dispel it).

I'd have thought that daily banishings would have kicked most unpleasant entities out, but I suppose like a guy who turns up to a party and spends 45 minutes moaning about the traffic and eating all the snacks, that doesn't make him *evil*, just a bit of an unwelcome nuisance, and politely asking him to leave is more effective than calling the cops.

The Harvest thing is strange though - I've now had 9 synchronicities for "harvest" in the past 2 weeks, and none have been in a good way. They've been in a "reap the whirlwind" kind of way. In a way, I hope it really is just a curmudgeonly ghost, and not the Fimbulwinter on its way...

I will do as you mention though, and try to make nudges towards my ideal life - I did actually plot out my ideal day/home/life a while back, I just need to follow through on making some actual steps towards it. A forest preseve next to the beach sounds pretty perfect to me though! Ideally with some secluded mountain biking/snowboarding trails nearby, but I'm not sure such a place actually exists...

Well, to be fair, this whole world is haunted. My house is haunted -- I am now at the point where I see full body apparitions of ghost cats and it doesn't even cause me to jump because I am so used to them. It's human beings that became blind to how alive everything is. We humans are trained to think of everything as dead, mostly because that line of thinking diminishes its value in order to exploit it, but it is not dead and never was. Right now, I am sitting among a panoply of non-corporeal beings. Some vie for my attention, most do not.

Keep in mind the ideas of balance and compromise when it comes to your ideal life. I know someone who envisioned herself in a remote cottage in the countryside in a foreign country. She forced this to happen for a time, abandoning her child and her husband while essentially putting him in the unenviable position of financing it with his very limited means. It didn't last long and soon she was back, worse off than before.

In my own case, my ideal has been to live in a place where owning a car isn't necessary to live one's life. So let's say I chuck it all and move to a place I like, such as Rouen, France. Not only would I slam face-first into the language barrier of not speaking French, I would have to abandon my six cats, my husband (unless he was willing to move with me) my parents, my students, the studio I work for, etc. There is always give and take that must be accounted for. A few years ago, I was driving a great deal more and I vowed to reduce the amount. I have managed to reduce my driving significantly, but I won't betray the ones I love in order to avoid driving, which seems to be the price of living where I am, at least in my own case. I can reduce my driving a little by avoiding certain errands and artfully re-arranging my schedule. That's the best I can do at the moment.
