Please refrain from profanity in the comments... Gods bless you!

This is the cat tree my husband built near our front door.  It is made of PVC plumbing pipes, wood, and sticky-backed industrial carpeting. You can probably see the cats have ripped the carpeting to shreds.  This is in the living room of our small house -- it almost qualifies as a tiny house at 675 square feet.  My recording/lesson studio is actually hidden in this room.

Below is a picture of some of the cat shelves in my office, a petite room in the front of the house.  The cats can roam and sleep above my desk.  I keep most of my files, makeup, sewing, and other supplies in the mirror-doored IKEA wardrobe by the desk.  Some of you might recognize this little room from my Sphere of Protection video -- it is the same space.

This is my office window.  The stained glass is fake -- it is a sticker.  The grille is a piece of wall "art" from Hobby Lobby.  I think I paid about $25 for it.  It keeps the cats from trying to bust through the screen.

Ashley Amore Reed Cocklebur Steele.  This is in the kitchen.  The stools came from a guy in nearby Wheaton from Facebook Marketplace; I think they were $10 each or less.  The seats are pretty beat up and need a refinishing.

Shadow Shadilay Sniffles Spazzimodo Steele.   My husband built the island out of an old IKEA bookshelf we had and added the "wood" laminate top.  The space under the counter has a rolling rack where we store cat food.  The cats also have a covered litter box under there.  We also have a second covered litter box under my office desk and a third one in the bedroom.

The kitchen -- my husband used our old IKEA bookshelves from past apartments and pulled apart/hacked more IKEA shelves for the walls.  The only cost was the L brackets and the industrial stick-back carpeting so the cats don't slip and slide.

I have trained both of the cats to fetch but only Shadow likes to show off for photos.

This is yet another IKEA bookshelf, this time with holes cut into it so the cats can weave through to the top.

Tarot questions

Those must be the happiest cats in the greater Chicago area : ) The shelves and pipes look like *so* much fun.

Questions for everyone about tarot.

- Can anyone recommend good books for interpreting tarot cards (Rider Waite or similar)? Right now I go to four or five different websites for each card but I'd like to have some real books on hand.
- In the past, when I got a new tarot deck, I just started using it. But now I'm wondering if I should pray over the cards or consecrate them first. What do people usually do? My belief system is a sloppy mix of Christian and Celtic pagan. Still trying to figure that one out.

I've found over time that no books are particularly useful beyond their ability to offer the textbook definition of what a given card means. There is a very oldschool site learntarot . com that I personally think offers the best no-frills reference to official definitions but also gives examples of how one might interpret sets and relationships between cards in a reading.

While knowing the textbook definitions is valuable, and helps to contextualize the reading, I've always found that the best results come from glancing at the cards and letting the images tell the story, and also that each time you look at a given card some small aspect is going to catch your eye and change the way it "feels" on that given day. This is never an accident.

Oooh! I like the grille as a solution for saving screens.

I may steal that idea.

Cats get everywhere, don't they! I recently installed a pet door into the garage so my cats can keep the mice away from the garbage, seems to be working so far.

I keep my green house door ajar so the furs can predate on the mice.

Glad the cats are helping with pest control.

I was 20 I tried to convince my roommate that we needed a cat. I failed. Then she saw a mouse in our new apartment and changed her mind. I went to the humane society the next day. A sweet tuxedo cat picked me and I brought her home. The cat killed a mouse right away. A happy ending for everyone except the mouse.

Your cats, Kimberly, are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the pics.

I really wonder just how long it would take for people to realize just how vacuous and irrelevant Hollywood actually is if they pulled this sort of strike. My guess is that it wouldn't be very long at all...

Kimberly,
How should we serve them? Fried, boiled in oil, poached, BBQ? Raw, medium rare, well done, or charred?

:-) :-) :-)

I have just realized I have acquired a bad Internet habit that I need to shed. I stumbled upon something on YouTube known as "The Backrooms", which is basically a horror-movie story-universe involving a malevolent alternate dimension that swallows random people into its empty, scary, maze-like interior. It's full of what I would consider to be demonic energy, and I let myself get sucked into it. So I guess it's up to be to blow myself out of it, now. And it's not exactly shocking that such psychic traps are proliferating on the Internet these days, is it?

Yes, they definitely have a very lower-astral-plane quality about them, so no argument with you there.

oh yeah and i wanna tell you that YOU and your domestic goddess idea got me and creatively i'm coming up on my "stories" i'll be doing art riffs off of and James and i thought a cat woman was too batman but i got into looking up the provenance of puss n' boots... boots they don't know WHY he had boots but there were 7-league boots that could make you walk 21 miles... apparently jack and the beanstalk had the boots in the story, too... but puss n' boots inspired me then they said it was an AMORALITY tale (cat was clever mischievious ..amoral) and in we're about (in the west) tales that tell you to be GOOD! i thought that was interesting to think on just a minute.

anyhow, so this morning before work James said, "what if you have a character and her MINIONS are cats and they DO things..."

and i said YES!

i'm just talking. nothing of value here yet if at all.

(giggle)

just wobbly new ideas i'm poking about...

but i dig that it started with you and your video of sphere of protection and how you ARE. thanks.

The common accusation about GamerGate was that a bunch of white males were bullying women in gaming.

Well, with the bruhaha about Hogwart's Legacy, the prophecy has been fulfilled, sort of.
