Ash, 1 year old -- we got him in October 2021 from the local Humane Society

Shadow, also approximately 1 year old, is a former feral from my backyard.  I picked him up in late July of 2021 when he was a few months old.

I'm not so sure about these points. I'm definitely accounting for group A. I think the problem is that if they want SJWs to go away then they want them gone from both parties and they aren't going to stay with the Republicans if they turn back into the 80s right wing SJWs they always used to be.

For, this B could easily be countered by people who were angry that vax mandates failed and desperately want to pack the courts to have another shot at forcing shots. After all, since we're now in an era of overturning decisions you don't like because of political leanings then everything should be considered fair game for an activist court.

I think C is what remains to be seen. I don't think any credibility has been shred from the perspective of the rank and file. People follow and believe, and don't think critically. They know they have a conflicting and divided opinion and they find ways to rationalize it. "Abortion is a personal choice that effects only you but you not getting vaccinated literally kills me" Just like how the right is pro-birth, rather than pro-life.

a) This is always a risk, but right now it's the Democrats who are causing grief for people, and all the Republicans have to do is not go insane. So far, while they have problems, they seem small compared to the Democrats.

b) Most of the people angry the vax mandates fail would vote Democrat anyway, while there are many who have been turned off of the party by it, and if enough change voting patterns based on it, this could easily be a game changer.

c) Most people are not part of the rank and file of either side. Most people are somewhere in the middle, and a lot of people don't give it a whole lot of thought most of the time. Those are the people who I expect to see change positions. The die-hard pro-choice people won't budge, but most people are not in that group.

I think it could be very simple. If the leaked doccument ends up actually being the court's decision, abortion gets kicked to the states.

If you find it necessary, lobby your state legislature to have the appropriate laws already passed. Each state decides what is lawful killing, manslaughter, and homicide already. We have a hodgepodge of laws, and we're accustomed to those laws. In one state you may kill someone who breaks into your house, in another you may not.

People will get what they want in their state, or they will move to live near likeminded folks elsewhere, or they will grumble about not getting their way while staying put. We will see, in the end, which states make which laws and how they all fare.

Indeed, some states already have laws on the books ready to go on both sides of the matter. If Republicans rally around "This just means you decide in your state" they could very well benefit from this at the national level. Mind you, I don't think many of that set of politicians is half smart enough to stick to that message.

However, if the pro-choice crowd (though I think it may be actually the any excuse for a riot crowd) insists on creating a miserable, dangerous summer for the urbanites, I suspect that has the potential for a bad backlash for the Democrats, especially at state and local levels. Allowing the wrecking of the businesses and homes of those who have been your supporters doesn't necessarily work out too well.

I'm personally still waiting for that backlash, and would very much enjoy seeing it, but after years of worsening conditions brought about squarely by the failed policies of an ever more radical leftward march the state and local Democrats here are strong as ever with no sign of flagging support. I'd say it's possible that on the state level the taste for radicalism of the "mostly peaceful" kind has soured but the rest of the messaging is as beloved as ever, and the blame for the social ills places squarely on "white male supremacy" and "anti-science bigots" (but only the white christian kind, not any other color or brand of monotheism)

Though to be honest I have begun to wonder whether elections in this state are thoroughly rigged. It's nearly impossible as it is for a Republican to make it onto local ballots in some districts leaving the races between Left and Lefter, which creates a fertile ground for radicals. Meanwhile ever since the shift to Mail-in voting years ago those races that actually have a Republican candidate for Governor or Senator are just blowouts against them.
