It has been a month of cat drama for me. After having to put my beloved Kiki down in July, I "adopted" one of my feral kittens, Shadow, from the back yard. Since he let me touch him and pet him while eating, I picked him up in late July, put him in a carrier, and took him to the veterinarian. He had a bad flu and was scrawny. The vet confirmed he was wormy, gave him some meds and immunizations, and we were on our way. The original plan was to let him go in the yard again once his kitty flu was gone and he was old enough to neuter.

Shadow is the son of Miss Blondie Piggy, a feral who has been frequenting the house since we moved in and started feeding the neighborhood animals. Piggy was the bane of our local trap neuter release person because she had litters of kittens year after year and could not be caught. In July I bought and started trapping with a Tomahawk drop trap. It did the trick: I caught Piggy within ten minutes of setting the trap out. After I caught her, the TNR person got her spayed. We had hopes of keeping her in the house because she seems to like me. Here's a photo of her briefly in my house. She was not happy!

Piggy jumped at the window, hoping it was open, and nearly taking these blinds down in the process.

Because it wasn't working out, I set Piggy free. By the next morning she was back in the yard, eating.

Then it was time to catch the last of my colony: Shadow's twin brother, Silhouette.

Unlike his brother, Silhouette never let me come near him. I drop box trapped him about a week after his mom was returned home. All went well until I took him to the same vet where his brother had been healed. We got to the vet, he let me handle him for about a minute, then he got spooked and bit my hands severely.

Luckily I treated my hands in time, thanks again to the TNR person's advice. I soaked my injured hands in very warm Betadine water (water with lots of Betadine in it) for 20 minutes 3 times a day for several days. I also got some antibiotics from my husband's doctor the next day.

My hands healed within about a week.

Little Silhouette, like his mother, was also unfit for indoor life. I turned him over to my TNR person and she got him neutered. Within a week, he too was back in the yard, eating breakfast and dinner every day.

Tommy (orange kitty) is also Miss Piggy's son. He was one of my first captures, and was the second feral to let me touch him and pet him. The first one was a gray and white cat I named Sir Puss in Boots, and he let me pet him one day and would cry for me outside the door every morning and night after that, wanting to be fed, played with, and touched. The only reason I didn't take him inside was because Kiki was still alive and she had always been a solitary cat who wanted me all to herself. Sir Puss and Boots disappeared one day, never to be seen by me again. I believe he was one of the renter neighbor's cats and they moved away. Please keep him in your prayers.

This is Tommy, who loves to play with Kiki's old toys and to be petted.

Shadow is doing really well inside the house.  He's inquisitive, bold, funny, mischievous, and fearless.  He can be quite a brat and has gotten a few time outs.  Overall, he's a sweet boy.  He was just neutered last Tuesday.  He did calm down a bit with the neuter.  He still has mad kitten energy.  I pity the mice who try to get into the house this winter...

I am glad to hear that all your cats are doing well.

But mostly, I wanted to say how much I enjoyed Miss Piggy's scowl. That is a first-rate eat-poop-and-die kitty scowl if I ever saw one. I laughed out loud.

Awww, you are making me miss having kitties! In the rental we just moved to, we do have a little male tabby that belongs to the next-door people-- he is friendly and comes over to visit now and then.

So glad to see that Shadow is thriving!

Glad to hear Shadow is settling in so well! We recently visited friends who have both a cat and a dog--they played together so well, it was super cute. Makes me wonder how our dog would do with a cat friend. He has a pretty strong personality, so I'm not sure it would work!

We had a dog and cat when I was a kid, and they got along fine. Not friends or anything, but the dog was friendly, and the cat tolerated having her ears licked and mostly ignored the dog. We had the cat, first, though-- she kind of trained the dog to respect her while the dog was still a puppy. I'm not sure how it would work the other way around. I've had friends who had yard dogs and house cats and that ended in a kitty massacre when the dogs got in the back door one day, so... it can go very very wrong also.

How do you give a cat a timeout? Confiscate his toy for a few minutes?

Now how are we supposed to have an open post when such adorability is right in our faces??

Their little faces are an inoculation against sadness

Oh, so cute! That is indeed an impressive scowl on Piggy's otherwise pretty face. I hope you keep posting photos of the kittens so we can see how big and handsome they get as they grow up! I'm sorry Sir Puss in Boots is gone, but I pray he is well and happy wherever he is.

Hi Kimberly, I'm relatively new to your blog and to JMG's, too, and the occult is not something within my experience. I am curious how confident you are in your Ogham readings as to the fate of the vaxxed and unvaxxed. I am in the US (blue state, unfortunately) unvaxxed and freaking a bit right now. Would love to see the tide start sharply turning soon, although I know your reading calls for more strife before the tide turns. Thanks,

Maxxy

Personal divinations

Are you familiar with anyone who has performed divinations that predict happy and glorious outcomes for following the herd, and certain disaster for those who don't?

I've never seen any, personally. Am I just stuck in an echo chamber?

Kimberly. if you haven't been, you may want to check out Karl Denninger's Market-Ticker and forum. He is great at breaking down data and he's been right pretty much every step of the way on Covid and the vaccines. His Ticker today https://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=243546 breaks down data from the UK and he says it proves the vaccines make you more likely to contract Covid even if they do provide some short term protection from suffering serious illness. Of course, the protection will shift over time and with future mutations.

On some other threads there was a bit of discussion about music to lift the soul and I thought I'd recommend Aurora. She is a Norwegian singer/songwriter who started writing songs around age 10-11; I think she is now in her 20s. I first discovered her singing with Wardruna on "Helvegen" (Road to Hel) and proceeded to go through most of her catalog online.

Her songs feature a lot of references to divinity, reincarnation, the importance of nature, with dreamlike lyrics, and her voice is amazing. I saw an interview where she mentioned that she dedicates each of her songs to a god or goddess. And if you are into videos, it's absolutely worth watching her live. The live versions are superior to the studio/produced versions of her songs.

She is definitely unusual and outside the mainstream. My family is not into her at all, but I thought some of the readers here might enjoy her music!

Hi Kimberly,

Wow, those kittens are adorable. Tommy looks like he's in heaven. We had a cat just like that, named Punkin'.

I wonder if anyone here would know what to do with some old Supernatural TV show stuff. My friend is trying to get rid of the DVD set and a book about the show. I've noticed quite a bit of inverted pentagrams with symbols written throughout the book and possibly on material in the DVD set. I have no idea if the crew of the show used real glyphs or if they just made up scary looking symbols.

I'm going to be cautious and assume the symbols and letters are real, so I don't know what to do with it all. I advised my friend not to sell the set and book in case he's passing on the demonic garbage to another person. He's quite happy just to get rid of it.

I don't have a backyard to throw the book or DVD sleeve into a fire. Yet I don't think it's a good idea to throw it away without doing something.

Do you or any of your commenters have an idea? Maybe it is okay to sell it all?

Thanks,
Jon
