I have some deep economic anxieties about the year(s) to come. I live in Melbourne, which as you might have heard spent a good nine months this year at the mercy of the whims of Chairman Dan and his cronies. I was fortunate in that my income only halved, and when you look at real prices without the manipulations of lying government figures, the buying power of my financial reserves halved again: http://pricedingold.com/australia/ . I have a growing family, and recently I have had to give up my car, because I can't afford the upkeep on it and I am now in the situation where I'm unlikely to be able to get another one anytime soon.

Even with the warning as to decline and collapse I've had by reading JMG for years, the reality of it actually happening around me is so scary.

It's absolutely shocking that it's here. I kept thinking I had a little more time, but here we go...

Oh my goodness. I can see why you are anxious! For my husband and I, collapse came in 2007 when he lost his job as IT manager of a medium sized printing company. The printing company went out of business. My husband was one of the last people to hang on to his position when the ship went down. He hasn't been able to get anything in IT since -- this has nothing to do with his level of competency as he was fantastic at keeping computer systems running. He has definitely been the victim of age discrimination and being overlooked because he doesn't have a bachelor's degree.

If we had kids, we would still be living with my parents. I suppose that wouldn't have been a bad thing at all because my parents adore children and have missed out on the grandchildren experience because they live far away. I adore children as well but having my own wasn't something I wanted in this lifetime. I'd be terrified if I had kids to feed right now. Self-sufficient farming and recycling measures can only go so far when your whole society is based on petroleum.

The thing is decline and collapse don't have to happen this fast. We could have had a more graceful exit if the Professional Managerial Classes hadn't bought the Chinese Communist Party's plandemic and cut off their own nose to spite their face.

Blessings upon your family. I hope the gods provide some needed prosperity for you and yours so you can get through this dark time.

Thank you kindly. Grandparents are a real blessing with children, the boomeresque assumption that it's better to go solo has got to die.

Totally agree. I'm sad that I missed out on seeing my parents interact with my kids in this lifetime. One of the silver linings of the Covidian cloud may end up being the return of the multigenerational household in the West.
