One of my favorite pastimes is to play a game with Google Maps of dropping a pin in a random location and viewing pictures of other countries. I used Random.org this time to choose for me, and it chose what looks like a rural street in Brazil. Damn, Brazil is huge! It is 90% of the size of the United States.
This post will be open until I post the next one in June.

Date: 2026-05-11 04:50 am (UTC)I am personally very fond of these coordinates: 12°05'12.7"S 77°04'06.1"W
Not random: I've walked by there many times, and the whole neighborhood had a great vibe. I virtually wander the streets around there via google maps when I'm feeling nostalgic :)

Date: 2026-05-11 05:56 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure that 2020 style lockdowns only work in the US with the implicit backing of the federal government, and despite the many reasons I have to dislike Trump, he got burned pretty badly by that in 2020, and took a lot of steps that seem intended to avoid that happening again, so right now I don't expect to see 2020 style lockdowns in the US; but I think it's reaching near certainty that they'll happen in Canada, if they haven't already. It's been a few days since I checked the news, so it's possible they've already gone down that road.
I'm starting to wonder if there'll be an Atlantic divide here: Europe seems likely to go down the lockdown road as well; and if this is the case, then I'd expect Canada to fall with the Europeans, given their government has very strong pro-European sentiment. Right now I figure there's about a 10% chance of the Canadian government trying to repeat 2020, while the American governments, even in deep blue states, don't. I have no idea how that'll play out, but it seems surprisingly likely to me that that would be extremely unstable and explosive...

Date: 2026-05-12 05:32 pm (UTC)Also, how much do you think the Canadian government really cares about opinions from anyone outside of the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor? The fact that it'll be extremely unpopular in Western Canada does not mean it won't happen...

Date: 2026-05-12 03:03 am (UTC)As for more lockdowns, it's obvious they want to try it again. Trump is a weakling piloted by Israeli interests, so if Netanyahu (who is probably actually dead and replaced with a clone) tells him to jump, he will ask "How high?"
I am in the Chicago area, land of vaccine cucks, so if the idiots in my area start up with the shenanigans again, well, my anti-idiot group Speakeasy Illinois never closed down. It will suck for me because it may mean going completely independent and out of the home with lessons again. I'm set up to do that, so it will be inconvenient but not impossible.
If people cannot see this one's agenda, that is on them. The unvaccinated are the only mostly-healthy group out there at this point. It is plain as day that vaccines (all of them, including the shots given to kids) are poison and the unvaccinated were 100% correct.

Date: 2026-05-12 05:41 pm (UTC)Israel's influence on Trump has been, to put it mildly, disturbing, but I'm not sure if they care about lockdowns in the US. They might, but I'm not sure they'll bother to interfere; and assuming Trump is at all aware of what happened in 2020, which he seems to be, I'd expect him to fight it pretty hard. So while I still put a decent chance of lockdowns of some form happening, I don't expect a repeat of 2020.
