Ogham Readings on Saturdays
May. 2nd, 2025 10:51 pm
I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills. Please limit your reading request to four or fewer Ogham cards: though this can take many forms, here are some common ones (all of them are basically combos of 4 cards):
-a single three card reading for the week or month and a one-off, one card reading
-four questions about four separate items that require one answer (card) per item
-a one card reading to answer a specific question and a three card for a more nuanced question
-Two separate readings, two cards a piece exploring the positives and negatives of two different choices
-a one card reading to answer a specific question and a three card for a more nuanced question
-Two separate readings, two cards a piece exploring the positives and negatives of two different choices
I am happy to do Ogham readings confidentially via email -- just email me at k steele studio at gmail during the allotted time/before deadline. I cannot answer health questions. If you have a question about health or another sensitive, private matter, provide a bunch of non-identifying information and the Ogham will be able to figure it out even if I don't. I'm serious... the Ogham actually tend to "know" things without me being privy to what is going on.
Please note I take time off during Solstices and Equinoxes for Druid stuff and because sometimes I simply need a break.
My next planned break is from Saturday, June 21, 2025 - Friday, July 11, 2025.

Date: 2025-05-03 12:04 pm (UTC)To review: The awfully expensive astronomy order arrived, and it all fit everything except the one instrument I had it intended to fit it for. Those instruments the parts did fit fulfilled the limits which they could be improved, and reached the limits which I was willing to handle them.
In reading astronomy forums, a theme I encountered in the hobby is a type of gigantism, which the hobbyist starts with a small instrument, and gets larger and larger instruments, until he reaches a point where he can't handle the size and heft, and promptly collapses down to a small instrument. Those accounts of wistful regret stuck with me and convinced me to figure out and set upper limits so as to avoid that trap. With this latest development, I think I did well, I managed to respect those limits, and that one instrument that didn't fit, it was apparent it wasn't meant to be.
To ask: What is it that I need to know this week, according to the Ogham?

Date: 2025-05-04 01:54 am (UTC)Thanks for the update! Astronomy isn't the only hobby that prompts giantism, I'm afraid.
You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you drew Straif or Resilience ill-dignified. Conserve money and energy this week in every way possible -- you need to save your strength and resources. Beware of any "solution" that makes pie-in-the-sky promises. Do your research. Old wounds may try to re-open, so be wary of emotional triggers.
For the Situation, you drew Ur or Intimacy well-dignified. Knowing yourself truly is the key to happiness, which is why Apollo made it one of his two sayings at Delphi to "Know thyself". What you do not say is twice as important as what comes out of your mouth. Always remember that silence at the right times is power. Done right, it will help you realize all your best dreams.
For the Outcome, you drew Ailm or Transcendence well dignified. This is a good week to observe what false transcendence looks like. I write about false transcendence quite a bit on this blog and I am fascinated by it. Those who talk big and as if everything is going great in their lives are usually bluffing/saving face. Contemplate your own efforts to save face in the past and when and if they backfired. Saving face is a strategy that often does not connect to what is going on under the surface.
Question & your substack is terrific!
Date: 2025-05-03 02:28 pm (UTC)I am in a situation where I think taking a course of action will better for my family as a whole than it will be for me as an individual. That's fine. Such is life. I am curious what your Ogham think though.
I would like to know what they say about the outcomes for the following.
1 Me if I decline.
2 Me if I proceed.
3 My household if I decline.
4 My household if I proceed.
Also, I recently signed up for your Substack and read a few of your bonus essays. They are great. Definitely worth the subscription fee.
Many blessings and thanks, Heloise
Re: Question & your substack is terrific!
Date: 2025-05-04 02:19 am (UTC)For 1, Me if I decline, the Ogham give Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. This will feel like an opportunity missed and the Ogham imply that it will either sour other relationships or that there will be a sense of loss.
For 2, Me if I proceed, the Ogham give Onn or Community well-dignified. This enables connection with allies that you'll need in the future. It also makes you feel like you are more secure and helps you discover your niche.
For 3, My household if I decline, they give Phagos or Teaching ill-dignified, which is a frustration with not being knowledgeable and/or frustration with someone who acts like he or she knows everything.
For 4, My household if I proceed, they give Nuin or Communication ill-dignified, meaning members of the household could turn to strangers (Professional counselors? Gaming? Random people on the internet?) for solace and comfort and this could be dangerous or destructive. This also warns that communication would need to be prioritized within the family.
As far as I can tell, it seems you are damned if you do and damned if you don't, so since the Ogham forecast the household being a bit topsy turvy in either scenario, they are suggesting you proceed.

Date: 2025-05-04 02:30 am (UTC)For the You position, you drew Straif or Resilience ill-dignified. I often draw this card when finances are thin or when I have to do hard physical work. The mantra for this week should be "I bend but I do not break". One good thing to think about in advance via discursive meditation is what you would do when faced with a crisis situation. The more you are able to think through a crises in advance, the less difficult it is to deal with crises as they arrive.
For the Situation, you drew Ruis or Regret ill-dignified. There are always forces coming out of the woodwork (sometimes insidiously from deep inside ourselves) that try to make us feel guilty. Guilt is a big driver of behavior and there are all sorts of malefic entities who know it. Guilt and fear are deeply intertwined, so face your guilt and fear in contemplation and strategize in advance what you would do if confronted with them. Marinating in fear or guilt is just as bad as pretending culpability does not exist for you personally. The balance is somewhere in the middle.
For the Outcome, you drew Koad or Confluence well-dignified. Factors combine to help you make the best of what you are given. Stay brave, be mentally strong even if you cannot match that strength on the physical plane. Be considerate and kind, but do not be a pushover and stand up for what you believe in.

Date: 2025-05-04 02:38 am (UTC)The Ogham give you three cards for this week.
For the You position, they give Mór or Sea ill-dignified. In my Ogham, I perceive this card to symbolize the collective astral around you. It's not good. If it is any consolation, the collective astral in my neck of the universe has been absolute trash. I am planning an article about this at some point called "Y'all Need a Banishing Ritual" or something equally crude. It's not your fault the astral around you is like this, but that does not mean you cannot be drowned in it. Lay low, do protective magic, and understand that random horrible thoughts are probably not your consciousness at all. Even with my own constant practices of meditation, banishing, and divination daily I have noticed nasty things trying to get at me through the thick energetic alligator-populated moat/web of spells I have constructed around myself.
For the Situation, you drew Oír or Epiphany well-dignified. There is a realization that you were meant to have and you do the grown up thing and have it. Though well-dignified, this may be painful and cause some tears. Growth is seldom easy. The gods like it when we assume responsibility in this fashion and they often let us know if we are sensitive to the signs.
For the Outcome, you drew Ailm or Transcendence ill-dignified. There are many, many people who model false transcendence. Celebrities do this all the time: it is a form of saving face and it can come off as very narcissistic. It's OK to be human, just don't go whole hog into vulgarity. Sometimes this card can mean garden variety depression or feeling tired, which is nothing to get excited about. It will pass.

Date: 2025-05-03 08:36 pm (UTC)Thank you very much for doing these readings for us...
my question for today...
What does the Ogham think I need to know to help my higher self now / in the immediate future?
also, I was wondering if there were any updates about your book...or (being cheeky) any previews for us?! ; p
Thanks for everything you do and blessings,
J

Date: 2025-05-04 02:51 am (UTC)My Ogham give you three cards to answer your question.
For the You card, they give Saille or Sensitivity well-dignified. Saille is Aphrodite's calling card in my Ogham, so I suggest propitiating to Aphrodite and generally working to please her. I have an article about that: https://kimberlysteele.dreamwidth.org/85341.html Aphrodite is one of the goddesses I tend to work with, and I find the easiest way of pleasing her is to keep up with the chores in a quiet, diligent manner.
For the Situation, they give Coll or Wisdom ill-dignified. We are in a spiritual Dark Age and my Ogham suppose you are feeling this acutely. I was looking at the sky at sunset tonight. A group of clouds had formed itself into what looked like a horizontal helix. It was gorgeous and bizarre. I had a feeling I was the only person who took any notice of it at all. Most people are too busy "doing something else" to ever look skyward. Yet I felt like Zeus himself was saying "Hey" via that cloud... perhaps only to me. I hope someone else saw it.
For the Outcome, you drew Beith or Intention well-dignified. You are already doing a good job crafting your intentions, doing what is right for you, and saying what you mean while meaning what you say. You can build upon that strength and refine your intentions like a master would an art form. All magic is intention and intention is magic.
Thanks so much for asking about my book. I am planning on putting an announcement up on JMG's Magic Monday blog that Sacred Homemaking has been picked up by Aeon Books and is going to be published in Spring 2026. I am very excited! I will be publishing a preview soon, please watch for it.

Date: 2025-05-03 11:33 pm (UTC)I have a somewhat vague question but hopefully your Ogham will know what I mean.
Is what my family suspects about L true? Is there anything else the Ogham have to say about L at this time or how to handle the situation?
Thanks,
Jan

Date: 2025-05-04 02:56 am (UTC)My Ogham say No, what your family suspects about L may be partially true, but if it is, they are blowing it out of proportion or may not know the whole truth. They give Onn or Community ill-dignified, which means they have misconceptions and biases that may be screwing up their view of L.
For what the Ogham have to say about L, they give Luis or Protection ill-dignified. L is angry and that makes L dangerous. My Ogham show L to be in chaos and not listening to his or her Holy Guardian Angel, which means L endangers or upsets others and should be handled carefully or avoided altogether.
For how to handle the Situation, the Ogham give Huath or Force well-dignified. If you are going to deal with L, you need to have a strong spine. Do not allow L to push, coerce, wheedle, or trick you into anything you don't want to do. You might have to cut L out entirely -- the nuclear option has to be on the table, as harsh as that may sound.

Date: 2025-05-04 12:22 am (UTC)It has proven to be a busy year for me and we're only halfway through spring! I hope everything is calmer in your part of the world.
I would like to ask the Ogham a series of blinded yes/no questions: A, B, C, and D.
Thank you,
Misty

Date: 2025-05-04 03:02 am (UTC)For A, the Ogham give Ailm or Transcendence well-dignified. When well-dignified, this is a card of overcoming difficulty, triumphing without egomania or pretense, and having enough energy and skill to get the job done.
For B, they give Ruis or Regret well-dignified. This is a card of being wise enough to know better, of seeing trouble coming from a mile off and avoiding it, and of building on strength instead of marinating in hatred and revenge.
For C, they give Huath or Obstacles ill-dignified. When ill-dignified, this card represents physical danger and either too much or too little Martial force, a.k.a. strength, bravery, and diligence.
For D, they give Ngetal or Hygiene ill-dignified. In ill-dignity, this card can mean excessive pressure that causes illness, physical danger, permeability to malefic forces outside, and not establishing proper boundaries.

Date: 2025-05-04 03:11 am (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You position, you drew Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. When in this dignity, the Ogham are often talking about the temptation to dismiss a source by virtue of its association, for instance, not reading an old book because old books are boring, being abandoned by a friend because of differing political views, or not being able to see through petty disagreements. This is also a card of lousy role models and the fear of what will step into that vacuum.
For the Situation, you drew Huath or Force ill-dignified. This is one of my Ogham's danger cards, so I utter my usual warning about being risk adverse and watchful. Other than that, it can talk about saying or doing more than necessary -- zip it/postpone until you need to speak. At its mildness, this card talks about feeling lazy, depressed, or tired, which may mean that you or other members of the family need to lay low and rest, saving your strength for another day.
For the Outcome, you drew Saille or Sensitivity well-dignified. This card brings harmony in the home, sweetness, and delight. Sensitivity is attention to detail, and when we can craft details, it is the foundation of protection and spiritual development. You can lean into this by giving thanks for little things that most take for granted: daily sustenance, shelter, and small comforts that add up to a sweet life.
