My anecdotal data point on how this is unfolding in my local area:
The self-righteous PMC buffoon of a county executive in my county just pulled a brand new mask mandate out of his backside a couple days ago. It will be interesting to see if most people blindly comply with this one. I'm suspecting not so much, as there was an immediate backlash on his twitter page. Most of the irate comments are from the vixenated who express their outrage at the realization they've been lied to; they seriously believed that caving and getting vexxed would mean they wouldn't have to weak a mask in indoor places any longer. Now they're suddenly questioning the narrative, i.e. "oh wait, so the vexes don't prevent transmission? after all, what gives?"
Said Buffoon had to promptly cancel his upcoming fundraising event because hundreds of people on his twitter page were threatening to crash the party and loudly heckle/boo him and his supporters. This politician has a god complex and plenty of observable mental issues to boot. Every single time he is criticized or called out for something stupid or petty he does he plays the victim and passes off the criticism as a deranged right-wing conspiracy (projection on the deranged part much??).
Ordinary people seem fed up with this crap. I sure hope there is mass noncompliance and non-enforcement from the sheriff's department. I do NOT look forward to being forced to once again mask up just to go grab groceries.
