I'm going to be doing a book discussion series on Sun Tzu's The Art of War starting the 16th of March on this blog. I plan on using the book as fodder for various meditations on everything from personal improvement to world events.
First, I am looking forward to your Art of War series!
Also, a divination question if you don't mind.
At the moment I am deciding whether to switch divination systems. Currently, I am using Handl Tarot cards and have been for a number of years. They work fine but I am itching to go back to Runes which I tried a few times or try out Ogham, or Coelbren. Did you work with Runes or Coelbren before Ogham? If so, how did it go?
Kind of thinking out loud here along with my question.
The few times I worked with Runes I was surprised how much I communicated with them. There was a nearly instant personal connection. For some reason the session felt much more personal than the cards. Even though the physical imagery is quite a bit less on the Runes compared to the cards. I am now wondering if I might find a similar connection with Ogham or Coelbren.
I first started studying Tarot using the Thoth deck a really long time ago and I can't say I ever found them to be all that great for divination. They helped me understand the connections between mythology, astrology, and the Kabbalah though, and of course that is no small thing. From my experience, it has been more useful to treat my Tarot cards like the pages of a book (Cosmic Doctrine springs to mind) where I'm supposed to meditate on each page for weeks or months at a time.
Ogham might be easier -- though they say there are Rune people and Ogham people. If Runes float your boat, by all means, go for it. The reason I'm doing Ogham is because that's the prescribed method of the Druid Magic Handbook system.
That's wonderful! I will definitely stop by for a reading. I have had lots of fun doing people's readings. It has gifted me with a wider perspective on the Ogham.
Kiki is doing great, thanks for asking! Tonight she started caterwauling when my car came around the block -- it's uncanny. When we used to live in a four story building on the top floor, she would start caterwauling when my car pulled into the lot. She is a kitty psychic!
It's coming along very well, thanks for asking! I'm now at the point where I have to start editing, as I have a bit too much material. I don't want the book to be a giant tome.
I just got a second grant from the SBA for my business. It went very smoothly for me. I filled my application and did any other communication during the hour of Jupiter.
TSW!
Anyway, I don’t know if your business qualifies, but if it does go for it!
Annette
Oh yeah, The Art of War sounds interesting. I just could not keep up with JMG’s book club around Dion Fortune. I just could not stay focused!
I am going to do my best to keep it accessible -- I'm not a war strategist, so I'm mainly going to be relating the advice in Art of War to everyday life.
Thanks for paying me a visit! I have replied with the card you requested. I’ve cast 5 divinations for people on the past days and it is definitely a learning experience and I have an experiment currently running which seems promising. I am surprised too by how much more easily I can read other’s cards compared to mine and the interpretations seem to be running along different tracks too. I’ve gotten positive feedback, whoever says divination doesn’t work clearly hasn’t tried it!
My cat does the same thing! I think cats are seriously psychic, I leave in Seattle but home is in Mexico. A few days before I arrive my cat starts sleeping on my room, my mother says... Whenever I start my magical practice the rest of the cats start acting as if high in catnip too, which is seriously funny.
I look forward to the book club! I only found JMG recently, but I got a copy of the cosmic doctrine and did the whole thing, reading back. I enjoyed it immensely! I don’t have a lot of people in “real life” who like to read books the way I do.
Very cool concept. I like the not-so-subtle inclusion of the occult symbol for the Earth element being the main element in this logo.
One thing I think that could maybe tweaked: Perhaps lighten up the triangle border a few smidgens so it clashes less with type superimposed over it in two different locations?
I'd put in a second thumbs up for both Sun Tzu and Clausewitz, and suggest stirring in Thucyldides History of the Peloponnesian War for a top three session of the classics of War. I'm currently reading the Landmark Thucyldides edition of it, with maps and footnotes; strong stuff.
I like the general idea. Unless there is some particular connection to Wicca you’re going for, maybe stay away from the triple moon emblem. Also it you might think about increasing the font size on the word “Homemaking” to give it more impact.
