This is the model of cognitive collapse, and it isn't limited to LLMs. Mice have been shown to suffer similar effects by being too isolated and insular (look up Mouse Utopia for more on that). I suspect humans are just as susceptible and we are in fact witnessing cognitive collapse on a global scale.
