I suspect that if we had responded to 9/11 with the same intensity and fervor with which we seem to be responding to COVID, Afghanistan would now be a radioactive slag heap, Islam would be illegal in spite of the First Amendment, and daring to walk down the street with too long of a beard would get you hauled in for questioning.
