Men's caftans are traditional in several countries. Sarong are the same garment for men and women, just worn at the armpits for women, and at the waist for men. Greek military *still* use evzones. If that's not a cute dress I don't know what is.
Once you start looking at old traditional styles, pants are a modern innovation originating in horse-riding cultures. Literally everyone else had some kind of robe/skirt/dress/toga thing going on for both sexes. It's more hygienic and more economical with fabric. Nobody portrays Jesus or the Apostles in pants, and our priests' robes are basically just Byzantine mens' formalwear:
