Ogham Readings on Saturdays
Jan. 24th, 2025 09:12 pm
I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills. Please limit your reading request to four or fewer Ogham cards: though this can take many forms, here are some common ones (all of them are basically combos of 4 cards):
-a single three card reading for the week or month and a one-off, one card reading
-four questions about four separate items that require one answer (card) per item
-a one card reading to answer a specific question and a three card for a more nuanced question
-Two separate readings, two cards a piece exploring the positives and negatives of two different choices
-a one card reading to answer a specific question and a three card for a more nuanced question
-Two separate readings, two cards a piece exploring the positives and negatives of two different choices
I am happy to do Ogham readings confidentially via email -- just email me at k steele studio at gmail during the allotted time/before deadline. I cannot answer health questions. If you have a question about health or another sensitive, private matter, provide a bunch of non-identifying information and the Ogham will be able to figure it out even if I don't. I'm serious... the Ogham actually tend to "know" things without me being privy to what is going on.
Please note I take time off during Solstices and Equinoxes for Druid stuff and because sometimes I simply need a break.
My next planned break is from Saturday, March 22, 2025 - Friday, March 28, 2025.

Trees
Date: 2025-01-25 05:31 am (UTC)As it's getting into the double digit negatives, we are of course consuming garden porn (all those glossy staged photos of perfect produce, what else to call it?).
I would like to consult your Ogham about food trees to try growing here, but I'm not quite sure how to phrase it, and perhaps you have an idea.
The USDA claims we are zone 5, but the zone 5 trees tend to die in our extreme weather-we lost two thirds of a twenty-plus-year-old cherry tree to late spring and early fall, or perhaps early summer and late summer, frosts. The wild food trees that thrive are elderberry and chokecherry, which are very fine trees, but we have sufficient, and would like more sweet fruit trees and perhaps some nuts. I know black walnut does well here.
Could the Ogham propose specific parameters for trees that we could plant that would thrive and produce for the next fifty to a hundred years? Obviously individual species is much too much for this space. We do know that we have very alkaline and heavy clay soil, and a short daylight exposure, so it's really about cold, heat, and dry tolerance, large and sudden temperature swings, and what the future holds for those, and which groups of food producers would thrive in living here and feeding us.
I will understand if this is much too complex a question and cannot be answered by the Ogham in this format. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and consider.

Re: Trees
Date: 2025-01-25 09:27 pm (UTC)Interesting! I am also in Zone 5 and I have noticed there are many mini and microclimates going on around my area. For instance, my mom two towns and 40 minutes away will get rain that I don't get and vice a versa. Super weird. The soil in her neighborhood kills roses and mine does not; my whole block is Rose Row because they grow like weeds here. My suggestion is that you pick a few trees, say 3 or 4, and ask the Ogham what the prognostication is for Tree A, B, C, and D in your yard.

Q- What should I know about this coming month of February?
Thanks,
Tamanous

Date: 2025-01-25 09:36 pm (UTC)Thank you so much! I'm delighted that you enjoyed it.
Here is the reading for your February:
For the You position, you drew Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. It's fairly easy to get burned out this month from helping others. The Ogham warn you to know your limits and to realize some help is more like enabling; sometimes by allowing others to do it (or to be lazy and not do it) is a lesson you must step away from in order for them to learn it. New ideas pop up and though some may be good ones, you'll have to choose not to chase after them as you do not have time.
For the Situation, you drew Quert or Delight ill-dignified. Quert in this dignity is a card of etheric starvation, which is the most common illness of our time. Feeling tired and wired or just plain tired is the main symptom. Most of us attempt to self-medicate with addictive behavior, including myself. Because this is in Situation, the addictive behavior may be your own or someone close to you, and the same goes for the tired and wired feelings. My go to remedies tend to be exposing my spleen area to direct sunlight, bathing, and homemade food.
For the Outcome, you drew Ailm or Transcendence well-dignified. You are aware that you don't have to push anyone down to lift yourself up. You may have to enforce silence quite frequently in yourself. You use rudeness, ignorance, and general "humans gonna human" nonsense to be a better person instead of sinking down with the Lowest Common Denominator competitors. It's lonely at the top, but at least you learned those lessons well enough not to endlessly repeat them.

Date: 2025-01-25 08:48 am (UTC)I have the opportunity to go on a spiritual retreat at a Buddhist monastery this summer, but I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with my mind alone for that long. I would love to hear your ogham's opinion.
Thank you very much!

Date: 2025-01-25 12:34 pm (UTC)Re: Princess Cutekitten
Date: 2025-01-25 09:57 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You card, you drew Coll or Wisdom ill-dignified. This is your week to keep your mouth closed if you are not ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN about what you want to say. This week may also present frustration about how much you do not know, and what you are not meant to know at this time. I suggest lots of silent prayer and contemplation -- God may not tell you all the answers, but He will at least give you some peace of mind on the journey that nobody else can possibly provide.
For the Situation, you drew Onn or Community ill-dignified. You may be expecting too much from the community of semi-strangers, friends, and acquaintances and/or they may be expecting too much from you. Be prepared to retreat a bit but don't be a stranger. Scrutinize any involvement, including casual get-togethers. Be wary of crime and criminals. Neighbors might do something annoying.
For the Outcome, you drew Phagos or Teaching ill-dignified. A figure of authority cannot be fully trusted. Watch out how much faith, time, or money you invest in said figure. You may have to suffer with a know it all or deal with a mea culpa from acting as if you knew it all. You may be forced to watch the consequences of someone's dumb decision. This could make you feel like saying "I told you so"... just stay quiet, remembering the first card of this reading, Coll.

Date: 2025-01-25 12:36 pm (UTC)To review: Resilience is what I had to draw on deeply this week, as I had to slog through the cleanup of a fire at my workplace. The Ioho sense of never quite getting to the bottom of things was quite felt with the cleanup work being done on top of my regular work. Conversely, the invective to let go and rest was the decisive factor in choosing to not go the day of the fire, which I am grateful to skip out. What that decision led to was going instead to the first shift the fire spooked crew was headed to after the fire, and my presence and the cleaned up workspace helped calm their nerves and return to normality.
To ask: What is it that I need to know this week, according to the Ogham?

Date: 2025-01-25 10:08 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You card, you drew Ngetal or Hygiene well-dignified. You have a good sense of your own limits and what is necessary for self-preservation so you can remain in service to others. Moderation in all things. This is a good week to observe perfectionism and tee-totaling as its own form of destructive addiction. Renaissance poisoners knew to inoculate themselves with tiny doses of the very materials they used to harm others. Modern scientists are discovering that small doses of allergens can help lessen the severity of a chronic allergy.
For the Situation, you drew Luis or Protection ill-dignified. Protection is one of my Ogham's danger card, and it always comes with a warning, especially in this dignity. Be very risk adverse towards yourself and warn your loved ones to do the same. I wear a red bag amulet when I pull this card. Other than physical danger, watch that you are not being overprotective. Nothing foments resentment and daredevilism like constant nagging or the statement "I worry..." Cultivate gratitude, not worry.
For the Outcome, you drew Duir or Gifts ill-dignified. It is hard to find a bad side to Duir, but if there is one, it has to do with not appreciating ones privilege or being thought of as extremely privileged. The best way to expand the reach of your gifts and bring them back your own way is to share them. This week, your peculiar gifts truly shine.

Date: 2025-01-25 10:15 pm (UTC)You drew three cards this week.
For the You card, you drew Tinne or Defense well-dignified. Tinne is one of my Ogham's danger cards, so I will issue my usual warning about being exceptionally risk-adverse and conservative this week. Other than that, it talks about being emotionally defensive in a way that is inappropriate, or having emotions dumped on you. Watch for anger masked as other things and other things masked as anger.
For the Situation, you drew Muin or Harvest well-dignified. You are seeing the logical consequences of good you put in place for yourself. You can relax, sit back, and rest on your laurels this week. It's not forever -- you're still responsible and diligent. You need to enjoy the fruits of your labor, if only for an hour or two. Know that you've cultivated some beauty in the world that needs it more than ever.
For the Outcome, you drew Ioho or Grace well-dignified. You are aware that it is time to rest. You have given up quite a bit to get here and there was more than one person, place, or thing you were very attached to that you had to set free to their destiny. For anything new to be born, something old must die. This is the way of the world and there is no getting around it. You decided to accept and go with the flow instead of fighting an uphill battle that you would have lost.

Date: 2025-01-25 10:20 pm (UTC)Yes, my Ogham like that. They give Gort or Perseverance well-dignified, which is to say if you keep the magic of making yourself more lovable in your heart and stay true to it, love will find you soon enough. Keep in mind in order to be more lovable, you have to see what is lovable about all the souls in your world, and that includes looking past surface ugliness in odd ways, such as seeing the good in a bad situation or the beauty in what everyone "sane" considers ugly. On the flipside, look deeply into what everyone "sane" considers gorgeous: it is often hideous and/or comes at a hideous price.
What's Up in 2025?
Date: 2025-01-25 07:41 pm (UTC)The New Year's readings you did for us these past two years were accurate! In fact, I hesitated to ask for another one, because the bad news in both happened (we survived!) and no doubt there is a nugget of nastiness lurking for us in 2025. Still, in the spirit of forewarned is forearmed, would you please check in with your Ogham and tell us what you see for us in 2025?
What's on the way, and how best might we deal with it?
Thanks as always,
Valerie
Re: What's Up in 2025?
Date: 2025-01-26 12:26 am (UTC)Glad to hear they were accurate! Yes, I have the same feeling of dread when I read for my own year. We have to keep in mind that a well-dignified card can feature the same ups and downs as an ill-dignified card. The dignity mainly refers to how hard it will be to overcome challenges, but even knowing that, I have had doozy years on all-well-dignified readings. For instance, for 2023, I drew all well-dignified cards and that was the year my father died, a.k.a. not an easy year. My Ogham predicted I would handle my father's death with maturity and grace despite it being really tough and I think it ended up being a fair assessment.
You drew three cards.
For the You or most immediate position, you drew Coll or Wisdom ill-dignified. This may be your year to have to put up with foolishness. Your best bet is to shut up and think about it as we have all been fools in one incarnation or another. Be ready to readily admit when you don't know a thing and to humbly ask for help. The Ogham suggest this should be your year of earned wisdom -- diligent, slow-going, and Saturnine. Holding yourselves accountable and not taking short cuts should be this year's theme. Also conserving money wherever possible, buying and appreciating used, and the old adage "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" should be put into practice. Saturn brings great, great rewards, but he's not for the impatient. He plays the LOOOONG game.
For the Situation, you drew Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. Some of this year's misfortunes are going to be completely out of your vector of control. Some of it will be up to you to fix, however, and you'll have to be ready to root out what you can fix and work on it. Imbalance would be blaming yourself for more than you are culpable for or the opposite imbalance of pretending you had no part in it. In most matters, there is a mix. Keep in mind that a multi-pronged approach from every possible plane is how to make effective magic. For instance, let's say I have an evil, icky neighbor. I can take physical plane precautions against him by installing cameras around my house and warning my kids to be nice to him but not to fall for it if he pretends he is in trouble (I don't have kids, this is just an example to make a point). I can affect the etheric plane by planting protective herbs and trees like hyssop, hawthorn, and birch by my doors. I can take spiritual protection into my own hands by doing the Sphere of Protection or another banishing ritual every day and praying to the Divine for help.
For the Outcome or Karma of this year, you drew Phagos or Teaching well-dignified. By letting go of what you have a lukewarm affinity for, you make room for those areas where you truly shine. Sometimes this means letting go of old attachments, getting rid of old stuff, or giving up on lost dreams, at least for the time being. This is a year of discovery and rediscovery of your talents and gifts. Mastering a passion does not mean you abandon it -- it means you abandon other things that distract from it while not allowing yourself to fall into destitution to pursue it as a source of happiness. Often this will mean daily work in order to get what you want.
Publishing Query
Date: 2025-01-25 09:11 pm (UTC)I'll start this off by saying I'm looking forward to the release of your own book which I will surely buy once it hits the shelves.
I too have a book that I'm looking to publish, the first draft having been completed in summer 2023, however some troubles prevented me from fully editing and completing until late last year.
As I've been in a somewhat negative frame of mind overall lately, and knowing this might impact my divination on the subject, I felt it would be best to have someone else perform the divination for me.
The query is: What is the overall outlook for publication of my book?
Thanks for performing this service regularly. I'm really glad that a freelance blessing / healing / praying / divination circle has built up around Ecosophia. There really is getting to be an Ecosophian community and egregore in the wider world. That's something to be proud of.
Best,
Deneb
Re: Publishing Query
Date: 2025-01-26 12:34 am (UTC)Thank you! It's an exciting time. I very much agree about the Ecosophian egregore and community. We are being the change we want to see in the world.
For your project, it looks good.
For the You or most immediate card, you drew Uilleand or Generosity ill-dignified. You'll likely encounter some beginner's luck with this book, and the Ogham warn you to keep a level head. I contacted JMG for advice about proofreading and editing and he said not to have an outside proofreader or editor do anything to my manuscript before sending a sample to a publisher. He also said to follow the publisher's submission instructions exactly and to the letter. Other than that, the Ogham are telling you not to fret too much about the submission. Your intentions are generous and earnest and that will shine through.
For the Situation, they give Straif or Resilience. I am going to presume your book deals with matters of resilience and if so, the Ogham are saying there is a healthy market for such a book at the moment and in the future. This is also referring to the fact you have a good attitude about it and that you're not going to get butthurt if you get rejected. You'll simply try again. Oh, another thing: JMG said only submit to one publisher at a time. Wait the few months after the submission they will likely talk about on their submission page and then try a new publisher.
For the Outcome, you drew Gort or Perseverance well-dignified. This book has a potential to become a classic. My Ogham really like your book or what your book will be upon its completion. They think it will be inspirational and wholesome. Again, there is this idea of people needing it at this point in time.

Date: 2025-01-25 09:22 pm (UTC)I hope this message finds you well.
My questions revolve around A.
Does J have a personal vendetta against A or A's family?
Is the travel plan helpful or harmful?
Is is in A's best interest to change his location?
Thank you,
Rooby
no subject
Date: 2025-01-26 12:44 am (UTC)My Ogham says No, J does not have a personal vendetta against that person or people. They give Onn or Community ill-dignified, which is saying J doesn't like anyone. J may pretend and put up a good show, but J has a deep mistrust of people in general and needs professional help and/or spiritual work that he or she is most likely not going to pursue. I know many people like J and though it is unfortunate, A needs to not take it personally. That said, people with profound "I hate and mistrust everyone" issues like J are bad news and should be avoided whenever possible. Keep it cordial, cheerful, and non-committal with such people. Never let them see you sweat. J is a sort of person who is unhappy and (eventually) unlucky unless he or she finds a way to work on it.
My Ogham do not like the travel plan. They give Luis or Protection ill-dignified, meaning it may be dangerous or even deadly. At best, the travel plan will be expensive, inconvenient, tiring, and regrettable.
For A's best interest, they say Yes, he would do well to change his location. They give Ruis or Regret well-dignified, meaning the place he is in is not serving him very well. He is not meshing well with the particular spirit of place and should experiment with different places while carefully observing the way they feel. I recommend writing these observations in a journal and meditating upon them.
New Job
Date: 2025-01-25 11:39 pm (UTC)I got the job I asked about last week. Everyone I've met seems very friendly and I'm getting to do my favorite scope of work. The only down side is that I'll be working almost exclusively outside.
I would like to ask the Ogham for a reading on how to make the most of this job?
Thank you,
-MF
Re: New Job
Date: 2025-01-26 12:50 am (UTC)The new job sounds interesting!
My Ogham give you three cards.
For the You position, they provide Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. There may be some rough patches starting out and some personalities that take some getting used to. Always try to give people the benefit of the doubt and realize that appearances and first impressions can be deceiving.
For the Situation, you drew Eadha or Limits well-dignified. You've kept your expectations realistic and as long as you continue to do so, the rewards will be predictable and commensurate. This is a good way to make a living and well-suited to your particular skill set and vibe.
For the Outcome, you drew Nuin or Communication well-dignified. This is another endorsement of this job being the right fit for your personality and for your peculiar needs. Your grasp of technology and understanding the way things work is crucial and will help you to maintain relationships. Overall, the prognosis for this job is very good. Congratulations.

Date: 2025-01-26 12:59 am (UTC)Sorry to hear you're not feeling well!
My Ogham give you three cards of advice.
For the You card, they give Ngetal or Hygiene well-dignified. This is their advice to you: stay home and give yourself as much TLC as you need. If you've made the decision to not go anywhere, they are commending that decision. They believe you are already on the mend and should be feeling better soon.
For the Situation, they give Beith or Intention ill-dignified. Your intentions are too vague and scattered and this has befuddled your progress. You have to be extremely honest with yourself, looking at scenarios of getting exactly what you think you want or never getting it. You have to be brutal about your advantages and shortcomings. How do you make the best of either scenario and all of the scenarios in between?
For the Outcome, you drew Ailm or Transcendence ill-dignified. Beware false transcendence and people who promise "magic" solutions... yes, the solution they propose will be magic, but of the black and grimy sort. On the opposite end, the "woe is me!" black pill crowd is no better, as their version of reality is as skewed as the bright-siders. The truth is always somewhere in the middle. Your goal is to achieve the Golden Mean of two thirds positive and one third negative thoughts -- right now the ratio is skewed and needs to be set right.

Date: 2025-01-26 01:25 am (UTC)For A they give Uilleand or Generosity ill-dignified. Person A is a double-edged sword, very generous but also prone to micromanagement and potentially a bit of passive aggression. They might be good because of their generosity.
For B they give Quert or Delight ill-dignified. Person B is either parsimonious or a spendthrift, or does not have the depth required to make it happen.
For C they give Fearn or Bridge ill-dignified. Person C burns bridges or has difficulty working with others. The Ogham think you should pass.
For D they give Koad or Confluence well-dignified. Person D has the connections and the circumstances to be of real advantage. As the only well-dig card in the set, D is the clear winner.

Date: 2025-01-26 02:14 am (UTC)You and the family drew three cards this week.
For the You card, you drew Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. This isn't your week -- be wary of clumsiness, moodiness, and bad luck in the form of dropping things or missed appointments. Nevertheless, some of it is within your control, so you absolutely can prevent mishaps by preparing yourself and thinking ahead.
For the Situation, you drew Muin or Harvest well-dignified. You and the family have created a great deal of goodness which is set and place and not going anywhere. You are seeing the logical results of good thinking and good investment. This is a good week to recognize the goodness in where you are now. You can sublimate the good by recognizing it and being thankful for it.
For the Outcome, you drew Gort or Perseverance well-dignified. This is not a week of instant gratification. Put your noses to the grindstone, be willing to work, practice, and follow through and above all enjoy the journey. Gort is at once a warning not to shirk responsibility and to keep going with all of the slow, tedious things that eventually bear amazing results, but it is also a warning not to treat it like the Bataan Death March. Have a little fun and enjoy the moment.
