Ogham Readings on Saturdays

I am happy to read your Ogham free of charge -- that's how I hone my divination skills.  Please limit your reading request to four or fewer Ogham cards: though this can take many forms, here are some common ones (all of them are basically combos of 4 cards):

 

-a single three card reading for the week or month and a one-off, one card reading

-four questions about four separate items that require one answer (card) per item
-a one card reading to answer a specific question and a three card for a more nuanced question
-Two separate readings, two cards a piece exploring the positives and negatives of two different choices

 
I am happy to do Ogham readings confidentially via email -- just email me at k steele studio at gmail during the allotted time/before deadline.  I cannot answer health questions.  If you have a question about health or another sensitive, private matter, provide a bunch of non-identifying information and the Ogham will be able to figure it out even if I don't. I'm serious... the Ogham actually tend to "know" things without me being privy to what is going on.

Please note I take time off during Solstices and Equinoxes for Druid stuff and because sometimes I simply need a break. 

My next planned break is the week of Saturday, September 21.

a) Is Venus willing to help me fix a fairly major mistake I made?

Hi Anon,

My Ogham say that Venus is willing to help you fix the mistake. The Ogham provide Ur or Intimacy well-dignified, which signifies your personal relationship with the goddess has gotten to the level where she will help you remedy both this and other mistakes.

For the 343 dollars to charity, the Ogham do not care for it. They give Gort or Perseverance ill-dignified, which tells me she wants service from you and not necessarily in the form of money to a charity. Is there any form of volunteering or boots-on-the-ground work you can do in dedication to Venus? For instance, committing to practicing a musical instrument for a year or learning how to garden are more the speed of what she has in mind for you. Gardening and music are of course ruled by Venus. Money is great, but lots of people in our era make it into a substitute for the sort of chop wood/carry water diligence that shows true commitment to the Divine.

It seems you did hear Mercury correctly on C). The Ogham give Onn or Community well-dignified, which means you should pour yourself into getting that draft done. Onn refers to both your circle of human acquaintances who will be willing to help you with your writing and your personal spiritual ecosystem. You are starting to remove the blinders and deafeners of the shallow trance that is modern life. This puts you in touch with the beings who have been around you all along and helps you mute the voices of the mal-intentioned ones. Good luck.

It's as if you have a strong wind behind your ship when you make the decision to explore the realm of thought in any particular arena, so choose wisely and what vibrates to your signature.

For the Situation, you drew Duir or Gifts ill-dignified. Overall, there is no bad side of Duir even when it is ill-dignified. At its very worst, you or someone in your circle may be acting a bit spoiled, and the cure for that I find is playing the Glad Game when you catch yourself in a negative loop. Duir ill-dignified can indicate acts of generosity or sharing where you act selflessly. You may think nobody is watching but selfless, generous acts are just about the only thing we humans can do that gets the attention of angels, helper spirits, and gods.

For the Outcome, you drew Quert or Delight ill-dignified. This card is most likely telling you to practice moderation. This means neither should you be a tee-totaler (Goody Two-Shoes health nut straightedge) nor a party animal (box wine at 11 in the morning to take the edge off the hangover) but plant your flag somewhere in the middle. This card can also be talking about parsimony and not letting go of enough money or the opposite imbalance of spending too much. Once again, the middle is where you need to be.

I'm about to play a major game of chicken regarding my housing and future and I know it's the way I need to go. However, the year has been especially brutal so I cave on my attempt to go at this all blind.

Hi AMG,

My Ogham give you three cards as advice for your current set of circumstances.

For the You card, they provide Beith or Intention ill-dignified, and this is not to say you have bad intentions, but that you perhaps have too many. You truly do have to think of yourself, putting yourself first and not worrying about the rest. Your energy must be dedicated in a single stream, both on the etheric and astral planes, so that way the mental will hopefully follow suit. Think survival.

For the Situation, the Ogham provide Oír or Epiphany well-dignified. Oír is a card of "Eureka!" where you'll have an insight or set of insights that helps. Such an insight may be painful -- any revelation of what is going on in Nature typically is -- but it is necessary in order to grow and blossom.

For the Outcome, you drew Ngetal or Hygiene well-dignified. When you burn strong, it can draw a great deal of envy and hatred from people who are too lazy to improve themselves. This is not on you; you must do you and ignore the haters as much as possible. This means putting them out of your mental space, refusing to emotionally react to them one way or another, and treating them as if they were strangers. Whether it was in this life or past ones, you were likely once like them: sad, beige, pissy, and predictable. Let the gods judge them and keep doing your thing.

You drew three cards this week; all were ill-dignified. Keep in mind an all-ill-dig reading is NOT an omen of bad times, nor is an all-well-dig reading an omen of good ones. The last all-well-dig reading I had featured a splitting sinus headache. Mostly it warns of potential imbalance so you can dodge what is thrown at you.

For the You position, you drew Nuin or Communication. "What we have had here is a failure to communicate" is this week's unfortunate motto. Double up on reminder failsafes, memory aids, and make sure to take snacks and water if you are traveling because it is the sort of week where transportation can be uppity.

For the Situation, you drew Duir or Gifts. There is no truly bad side to Duir. Even ill-dignified, it is a gentle reminder to be grateful for what you have and not to let the fact others have more be a thorn in your side. Yes, others have more but far more have much, much less. Sharing what you have (however little that may be) sublimates the gift across the planes. It's the sort of thing you don't think is being watched, but you are very much being watched by your Holy Guardian Angel, among others.

For the Outcome, you drew Oír or Epiphany. It is tempting not to face the inevitable. Dishonesty with yourself is going to be appealing and the Ogham suggest you don't succumb. The Ogham are constantly reminding us to face our worst fears in discursive meditation. For me, one of the specters I have had to sit down with is my fear of poverty. Once I realized what I was not going to allow poverty to reduce me to, I had an easier time dealing with those thoughts and visions.

Good Morning Kimberly,

To review: Fearn this week turned into a week of stepping on the toes of hierarchy and authority. The first instance was someone using me as a go-between to a superior when they should have gone direct; the second instance was a superior not taking the reins when the situation called for them to do so, and I stepping up and performing the protocolary role; the third instance was a vagueness as to my position vs a new worker, whether he was or was not someone I could take charge of.

Muin was more related to a purchase made, the nature of which vacillates between a good idea when broken down to its individual components, and a terrible one when taken as a gestalt.

Coll was more related to Fearn, as the resolution of these instances was one where ambiguities were clarified, and chains of command were straightened. My usurpations were understood as being in line with the will of the hierarchy. As to the situation with Muin, I had questions regarding the direction of the hobby I wanted to take, and now having in the flesh a way of comparing the two paths, I came to a conclusion as to which direction to take.

To ask: What is it that I need to know this week, according to the Ogham?

Thanks for the detailed feedback! It helps me both with your future readings and readings for other people.

You drew three ill-dig cards this week. As I mentioned to the poster above, this is most decidedly NOT a bad omen. All well-dig cards are often not as great as they seem either; I have had several all-well-dig days that featured horrific sinus headaches. Mostly, the Ogham are trying to give you a heads up so you can fend off potential imbalances in a preventative way.

For the You position this week, you drew Phagos or Teaching. It is likely you are going to have to deal with a know-it-all who cannot be taught. Lucky you! (not) Obviously the Ogham are trying to warn you so you can invoke saintly patience, but certainly know where you draw the line as no fool should be suffered indefinitely. It's also highly likely someone will resent you for being a know it all, whether or not it is a fair assessment.

For the Situation, you drew Muin or Harvest. You are going to wish this situation was over but it is not over until the fat lady sings. Keep in mind the Ogham may also be warning you about the psychology of previous investment -- know when to stop digging the hole, because the first step in getting yourself out is to stop digging.

For the Outcome, you drew Luis or Protection. Straight up, Luis can be a danger card in my Ogham, so be extra risk adverse, don't climb questionable ladders and don't run in flip flops. Other than a physical warning, this card talks about the general grubby state of the collective astral trying to drag you down with it. You can combat the forces of nastiness with gratitude, generosity, and pragmatism. Though it is stupid to trust everyone, it is equally stupid to trust no one. Choose your friends wisely, but make sure you have a few around at all times.

For the You card, you drew Ngetal or Hygiene well-dignified. This means you have a good sense of where you end and others begin. Knowing what is your circus and your monkeys versus what isn't is probably the most important knowledge anyone can have. The Serenity Prayer nails it: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference."

For the Situation, you drew Uilleand or Generosity ill-dignified. Like Duir, it's hard to find a truly bad side to Uilleand, but Uilleand's bad side is worse than Duir's. When it is bad, it indicates you are smothering someone and potentially setting them up for large scale problems. Parents do this to children frequently and grandparents do it to grandchildren by spoiling them. Uilleand can also mean that you give in an excess way that is both excessive and appreciated by the Divine, and in that case, there is no bad side at all because you are embodying Jesus energy.

For the Outcome, you drew Ur or Intimacy ill-dignified. This talks about sadness in close relationships and a need to focus on the positive because the negative is all too easy to wallow in. It also straight up says "Know when to shut up" and reminds you of the power of silence. Better an awkward silence than to put your foot in your mouth.

For the You position, you drew Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. Some of the mistakes that happen in August will be squarely your fault, but some won't be at all, so do your best and don't beat yourself up about what you cannot help or change. Be risk adverse and lay low -- if your gut tells you to stop going in a certain direction, make sure you at least take the time to contemplate why it would feel like that. Acting on gut feelings whenever they occur can result in terrible problems -- my gut almost always tells me to eat a giant slice of French silk pie. Obviously I do not eat French silk pie because I am vegan. I am glad there are no convenient vegan versions of that pie because if there were, I would probably weigh 300 pounds. I had a gut feeling the other day to skip going to the grocery store which I am glad I did not do. That said, at least make note of your gut feelings and be ready to contemplate what they are about. They can be very revealing.

For the Situation, you drew Uilleand or Generosity ill-dignified. Uilleand can point to molly coddling on your part or molly coddling coming at you from others. The act of molly coddling is unintentionally hurtful and destructive -- we really do need to let others stand on their own two feet for their own good. Uilleand ill-dignified can also be talking about an outpouring of generosity towards or from you, and in this case, even in a bad dignity it is nothing but good. Generosity creates a golden ripple effect around it when it is genuine and from the heart.

For the Outcome, you drew Onn or Community well-dignified. You treat others the way you would like to be treated. Your kindness may or may not be noticed by mortals but rest assured higher powers take notice of your sweetness of spirit. We live in a world where it has always been sadly acceptable to engage in the worst forms of classism; by not falling into that superiority trap, you make the world a better place one interaction at a time.

In the past year I started to pursue writing as a hobby and potential career - my guides indicated I had big potential in this direction. Since then, events are such that my fiction writing plans seem to have to bite the dust. This leaves me lost in what I should work on at this time, especially creatively.

Do you think I’ll find a creative hobby that inspires me in short time? Or am I dropping my writing too quickly?

Hmmm, my Ogham give you two answers here.

I don't know if you knew this about me, but I have written five novels. I wrote a vampire trilogy called Forever Fifteen that was actually pretty good if I do say so myself. It's not highbrow literature but as novels go, the FF series is a fast, entertaining read. I wrote another standalone novel called River's Heart about a Native American vampire. My latest and likely last novel (for a while, anyway) is Shadeylight, a satirical spoof of Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. If I ever write again, I am sure I'll write about paranormal subjects, just not about vampires again. I have gotten sick of them.

Writing is tough and fiction writing is tougher. In my own case, writing fiction wasn't hard, but promoting it was too frustrating and too much of a replay of my failure to launch my original music as a young woman. I may write more fiction in this lifetime but it won't happen anytime soon as I have too many other writing and non-writing projects.

For the "creative hobby that inspires me in short time" the Ogham give Ailm or Transcendence well-dignified. They like this one a great deal. It is highly likely this activity will be more physically involved than writing. Ironically, once you get good enough at this new hobby, chances are you'll write a non-fiction book about it.

For "Am I dropping writing too quickly?" The Ogham say No, and they give you Duir or Gifts ill-dignified. The Ogham think you are overflowing with gifts and writing is just one of the buffet you have to choose from. To steer away from it for the time being towards one of the others is not a bad thing at all. One is silver and the other is gold.

Hello Kimberly! Thank you for keeping this venue open.

I have been mostly retired for about three years, since my former employer left town and I found I could get by. But in the last couple weeks I have been talking to a recruiter. She works for my old company (but in a different division—no one I know), and she came looking for me personally, by name. The work she is offering is similar to what I did before but not the same (so I'd have the chance to learn something new). It means moving about 400 miles away, which I'm reluctant to do because my mom is in her 80's. But it would be good to have some more structure in my days, and I think I could help this division with their work.

What can the Ogham tell me about this job? If they offer it to me (they haven't yet), should I take it? Are there hidden landmines? Or any other insight would be appreciated.

Hi HT,

My Ogham think you need to do as much detective work on this potential job as possible. They give Oír or Epiphany ill-dignified, which is not a good sign. Oír is a realization of what cannot be changed. In a bad dignity, this could very well indicate this is not the right job for you. It could be the location that is the problem, the job itself, or the other people who work there.

For whether or not you will get the job, the Ogham seem to think you will if you want it. They give Ioho or Grace well-dignified, which pretty much says they think it is in the bag.

As for the problems with the new position, they give Koad or Confluence ill-dignified. They think there will be unforeseen problems with taking the job. The main issue will be the choice to move, as it will be difficult to alter once it is set in place. The Ogham recommend a great deal of discursive meditation both on the cards offered here and on aspects of the new job such as location and your statement about wanting structure in your days.

Thank you for this. This is consistent with the Tarot layouts I've done: I keep getting cards like the Knight of Cups reversed, suggesting that there is something beneath the surface. The frustrating part is that I've had three interviews at this point and I can't tell what the lurking problem is. Other than the move itself, of course, which will be a big deal. (And rents where I live now are crazy enough that if I move away it will cost a lot more to move back.)

For the Situation, you drew Gort or Perseverance ill-dignified. Bad habits may rear their ugly head and because this is in Situation, it may apply to others within your inner circle. It could also be a matter of not having time for your good habits -- maybe there is something you wanted to keep up with but could not do it because time won't allow. Believe me, I know the feeling!

For the Outcome, you drew Nuin or Communication ill-dignified. Getting your message across won't be easy. You may have to stop trying for awhile in order to recuperate. Tech and travel problems should be expected and anticipated. Be prepared to change routes and routines. For the You card, you drew Ioho or Grace well-dignified. You let go of what is not meant to be or what is no longer useful this week. The process may be painful but doing it will free your soul. By giving up the old, you gracefully make way for the new.

For the Situation, you drew Ruis or Regret ill-dignified. You or someone in your inner circle is either being blamed, self-blaming, or placing blame upon the wrong party. Regret easily becomes imbalanced. Too little of it and we become grandstanding, solipsistic pricks. Too much and we become stymied into stillness, afraid of our own shadows. The best approach is to be honest about your regrets and to use them as a thrust block to become a better person.

You drew three cards this week. All were well-dignified. As much as this might seem like a straight up good omen, keep in mind it is more a sign that you'll overcome imbalance with style and grace. Imbalance, like s**t, is always going to happen because s**t happens.

For the You position, you drew Saille or Sensitivity. This is you at your best, saying the right things at the right times, and being at the ideal nexus between empathy and etiquette. You set a good example even when those around you are overreacting or behaving like jerks.

For the Situation, you drew Ruis or Regret. You use your past in an empowering way instead of being afraid of it or unjustifiably angry/entitled about it as so many are. The whole point of regrettable experiences is that we put them behind us and say "I'm not proud of that and that is why I don't do it anymore." Putting shame in its proper place is extremely powerful.

For the You position, you drew Straif or Resilience ill-dignified. The Ogham are straight up saying you should be flexible but not too flexible this week. There is always a careful balance that you must ride of when to give in and when to stay rigid: this week is going to present a challenge. We cannot be so open-minded that our brains fall out, but not all traditions are good ones. True grace often means letting go of the old in order to make room for the new.

For the Situation, you drew Coll or Wisdom well-dignified. This speaks of some hard-earned skills and acuities. Coll is a card I almost named gnosis, the kind of knowledge that comes from firsthand, immersive experience. It's the difference between reading a book about making soap and actually making soap a thousand times. Your knowledge comes in handy and is ready to be passed down.

For the Outcome, you drew Ioho or Grace well-dignified, which seems appropriate considering the first card. Again, we mustn't throw the baby out with the bathwater when we embrace a new way of thinking or a fresh input. The key is to let the right amount of change in the door. My father who passed away in October and my mother were always good at balancing the amount of "stuff" in their house, doing seasonal cleanings and purging old items in order to bring in the new ones.

You are going to have to learn what it is to balance your state of trust. Your future mate is going to have weaknesses and areas where he or she is not worthy of trust. We all have them. Some mates have so little aptitude for finance that the monetary decisions are best left to someone else. Or there is the question of fidelity: in my opinion, an open relationship features the same disadvantages as being single, so it was one of my deal-breakers back when I was dating. Know your deal-breakers. Never settle; it's far better to be alone.
