There's a woman named Sonia Singh who noticed how harlot-y Bratz dolls were and started a cool business doing makeunders on them. The business is called Tree Change dolls. She removes the paint on the dolls and repaints their faces to represent actual little girls who don't wear makeup. She makes the doll clothes by hand -- no slutty polyester micro miniskirts or neon halters, just regular sweaters, jeans, skirts, etc. that a normal little girl would wear. Little girls love them because they're cute. Brilliant upcycling, I think, and it saves those things from a landfill and turns them from awful to charming.
