There are two middle classes in the US: the Progressian Middle Class that aspires to the upper middle and salary classes and the Deplorable Middle Class.
An aside: Regardless of class, there is almost nobody in the US who hasn't at least partially benefitted from Chinese slave labor and the Chinafacation of the economy the Progress middle class is trying to extend into perpetuity. I am typing on an Apple computer that wouldn't exist without the Chinese slave economy, wearing Dollar Tree eyeliner (Dollar Tree is pretty much the China Store, and I don't mean porcelain) and wearing cheap stretch pants from JC Penney, another store that sells tons of Chinese products.
The difference between my Deplorable Middle Class beliefs is that I see the writing on the wall and know that it is time for a divorce from China and its products whereas the Progressians would gladly hand over our American freedoms (of speech, of religion, to own guns) so the flow of cheap Chinese goods can perpetually increase instead of dwindling down to a trickle.
