Boy, that's frustrating. Drugs should be an absolute last resort and to my mind, your doctor has completely forgotten about the key factor here: your diet. For heaven's sake, it's an ulcer in your esophagus -- ouch! Literally that is an open wound. What you eat needs to be absolute priority! I am sorry but your doctor sounds like the typical allopathic idiot, putting the cart before the horse. Please do not share any of this with him or her so he doesn't sue me. As far as the acid kicking up, you might consider taking a little baking soda in water when the acid kicks up. I like mixing it with some lemonade so it fizzes and is more pleasant to drink.

The following is not medical advice. I would supplement with 15 mg of zinc and 500mg bromelain at every meal, and my meals would be soft for a while. Pureed food, soups, absolutely no alcohol, applesauce, rice. I would chew everything very, very well. I would reduce foods that produce acid: dairy and meat should be at a minimum, only used as seasoning or accent or eliminated altogether. Be very observant of potential trigger foods: as I have mentioned, mine is garlic and sadly ginger does not seem to do me many favors either. Speaking of the Chinese, if you've ever been to a Chinese or Korean grocery store, look at the Chinese/Korean women's carts. There's one or two packages of meat, maybe one or two other convenience/processed foods such as noodles or sauces, and the rest of the cart is a load of greens and produce.

Yes, if you can find a good TCM practitioner, you should go see him or her. Every little bit helps and TCM treats the etheric body, which is the source of all healing. Good luck.
