Yikes! May they be blessed, they will need it. We have yet another salary class friend who grew up poor but soon was seduced into the overlarge house, having a couple of kids, and now finds himself unemployed for the umpteenth time in twelve years, supporting his extended family in the overlarge house, and completely unable to maintain the mortgage and child support. He grew up mostly fatherless so there was never anyone to teach him how to take care of a home and a yard. Of course in his current McMansion, the association does most of the heavy work. I think he does have to mow the lawn but I'm not sure. This is a good guy. He and his family could very well be some of the first wave of PMCs to end up homeless. He keeps on holding out for the next salary class position. Now he's nearly 60 and people half his age have to fight for shrinking pieces of the PMC pie.
Many like him will die deaths of despair, one way or the other.
