After experiencing Mahler's 2nd symphony directed by Simon Rattle on YouTube, I wondered if Classical music ended when modern composers despaired of how to follow That lead, and no longer had the will to live. It's wild to watch, and when Simon rolls his eyes with the intensity of the whole thing, I feel I would give anything to be there. Davie
