I posted this theory on JMG's blog but I though I'd repeat it here. The theory goes like this. A lot of people who incarnated in the 80s and 90s were just here for what I would call The Great Party. They saw from the Other Side what was about to unfold and had just one thought in mind "To-ga! To-ga! To-ga!".

But that's all they came here for. And now the party is over, the sound system is shut down, the bar is closed or the echoes of "Last Call!" are in the air, it's nighttime, the air is getting chill and they have no idea where to go or what to do.

Maybe at some level (definitely not a conscious level for sure), they're terrified of what's to come, they know they are extremely unprepared to face it and they want out. They were just here for the party and the party's over.

And here comes this very sketchy concoction from less than ethical people, it's untested (and what looks like with good reason or bad depending on your POV) and here are all these official looking people saying in soothing voices "Here, take this, it's for your own good, trust us". And at some level they know what they are doing. And why. And they are choosing to leave.

Maybe it's for the best? I don't know. Maybe these generations knew they were doomed from the start and that's why they've acted the way they have all this time? Dunno.

Consider this theory a cat toy to bat around with your paws when you're not doing anything important.
