There was that George Carlin bit about humans destroying the planet. It was a truly enlightening bit. What people are really saying is we're going to render the planet inhabitable for humans. We ain't killing the planet. Earth will always win in the end.

That said, people here and on Ecosophia are far more attuned to the reality that life "as we know it" will likely come to an end, maybe sooner than we'd like. Unless, a cheap source of renewable energy is derived/created. I don't rule out that what is going on now in the world is a part of that process.
