Prior to Hereditary, nothing in Ari Asters prior independent short films indicated any of the admittedly cinematic genius that he managed to create in Hereditary, and I have to wonder just how much of that genius was his own and how much was something much more sinister.

Midsommar also has a very oblique reference to the same family of demons as well in its numerology despite his trying to put it in a different setting and context and claiming no connection.

I'm not sure how this all will turn out for him.
