I’ll join in. Are you going to do Clausewitz too? He gets neglected these days, probably because his book is so much longer than Sun Tzu’s.

I look forward to the book club! I only found JMG recently, but I got a copy of the cosmic doctrine and did the whole thing, reading back. I enjoyed it immensely! I don’t have a lot of people in “real life” who like to read books the way I do.

I'd put in a second thumbs up for both Sun Tzu and Clausewitz, and suggest stirring in Thucyldides History of the Peloponnesian War for a top three session of the classics of War. I'm currently reading the Landmark Thucyldides edition of it, with maps and footnotes; strong stuff.

Seconded! Thucydides for the win! (Warning: his book’s REALLY long.)

I'll join in too. It's been a long time since I've read it.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on The Art Of War! Have you been following Steve’s excellent ongoing meditations on it at [personal profile] readoldthings?

I was in the reading room playing BitLife, a phone game where you live out the character’s life and try to achieve whatever goal you set for them. I had my character buy a haunted house.

Sun Tzu was one of the ghosts. 😄

(Genghis Khan was another. I’d like to be a fly on the ceiling listening to their conversations!)
