I first started studying Tarot using the Thoth deck a really long time ago and I can't say I ever found them to be all that great for divination. They helped me understand the connections between mythology, astrology, and the Kabbalah though, and of course that is no small thing. From my experience, it has been more useful to treat my Tarot cards like the pages of a book (Cosmic Doctrine springs to mind) where I'm supposed to meditate on each page for weeks or months at a time.
Ogham might be easier -- though they say there are Rune people and Ogham people. If Runes float your boat, by all means, go for it. The reason I'm doing Ogham is because that's the prescribed method of the Druid Magic Handbook system.
