As a teacher, I can tell you that education in America has many problems. As an ex-student of public education, raised in the inner city by parents who grew up in small towns in Mexico, I can tell you that public education, with all its flaws, still has much to offer.

"Who can straighten what God hath made broken?" I think this applies to education as much as to anything else that comes from humans.

I do the best I can with my little corner, and that's all I can do. I feel fortunate to work in a place where most of my colleagues seem to care about their work, but I know there are many other places that are less than good.
