Unfortunately the old healthy economy won't have to be revived for the upper middle class to go full spendthrift. They are already doing it in the horrible Biden economy. It is de rigueur among the upper middle class to go on several airplane vacations a year. People from Asia make a point of going back for grand tours every 2 years or so like it is nothing. There are several children's choruses that do at least one European itinerary per year. They never put it together that their luxury vacations and posh houses raise the cost of living for the lower classes. The property tax hikes that are the natural result of the upper middle class lifestyle make it impossible for anyone making less than 150K a year to afford even the most modest of homes.
