At a small consignment shop where I got the kids' winter gear, the subject came up b/c the clerk was wearing one, and she said, apologetically, that she had asthma and never wore it anywhere else, but that it makes some of the customers more comfortable. I get the awkward position she's in, because she owns the shop, and runs on a very low margin.
